Trump Speaks to National Assoc. of Black Journalists

I knew the media would try to make the election about race, gender and social issues. Unfortunately Trump went down the rabbit hole and it did not look good. Is Trump the best pick? No. But if you look at where our country is right now, certaily Harris isn't. Kamala is a socialist and will make. things worse.

If you want interest rates, gas, groceries and energy to stay high - vote for her. Harris will reduce oil production further, raise taxes and push her green policies. I know what 16% interest rates look like, trust me, it won't be fun.

We have two wars in the world driven by dictators and Taiwan isn't far behind. I have traveled to China, Russia and the middle east over my career (women are not treated well), Putin and Xi won't respect Harris.

Bringing 11 million illegal immigrants into our medical system will cripple a system already in decline to its knees. Not to mention the expense to support workers not paying their fair share

Trump can be a baffone and sometimes his anics are hard to watch but he wants what is best for the country long-term. If Harris becomes president, God help us.
Keep being dumb

Not the point ragnar...

The point is we should expect and demand that the folks that want to lead the country put themselves in these type situations.

Not reward them or giving them a free pass for avoiding those settings.

That's where we're heading in my opinion.
Hey, you’re preaching to the choir on that one.

The truth is this is a throwaway election. My only hope is Kamala wins, shit calms down after a while, and then the Republican Party reinvents itself and finds a decent candidate in 2028 that I wouldn’t be embarrassed to get behind and help support.

It will be interesting to see the type questions she's asked in September.

Since she hasn't been asked to explain anything since she became the presumptive candidate it's hard to make a comparison :)
Whatever questions she's asked she won't bash the venue, accuse the hosts of being amateurs, or show absolutely no respect for anyone there.

Jesus ****in’ Christ.

Yeah, imagine being so stupid walking in and before they even say "thanks foe coming how are you" you get

"We so appreciate you giving us an hour of your time, I want to start by addressing the elephant in the middle of the room, alot of people think it was inappropriate for you to be here today, you have pushed false agendas, you told 4 Congress members who were born in the United States to go back to where they came from, you call district attorneys animals, and have attacked black jouenalistas stupid and had diner with a white supremacist, now you stand here wanting votes, why should we trust you".

In the first minute. What an idiot.
So they shouldn’t have been journalists and should have treated it like a cocktail party?

That’s dumb.

o.k.

Harris hasn't been asked any questions...in any format that I can find since she became the candidate.
Not sure why you can't admit that Trump didn't go there to answer questions. He answered none. He went there to dump on black people and tell them that they owe him everything. He's clearly racist. Deeply racist. Frankly he should drop out after this

Who woulda thunk that the GOP is the party of participation trophies.

Go figure.

He answered the questions and was justifiably ridiculed for his answers.

Point remains...at least he was being asked the questions in a hostile environment. At least he showed up. That should be an expectation for all candidates.

Harris hasn't...and probably won't, put herself in that situation. I can't even imagine a scenario where she'd agree to a forum with less than friendly journalists. Should that be rewarded or called out?

Harris has been the nominee for like two weeks. Don’t you think it’s a little silly to be criticizing her for not fielding interviews already?

He didn't answer questions. He immediately threw out every question and replaced it with attacks on the hosts or Harris or minorities.

So what you are saying is, starting a conversation of with:

"We so appreciate you giving us an hour of your time, I want to start by addressing the elephant in the middle of the room, alot of people think it was inappropriate for you to be here today, you have pushed false agendas, you told 4 Congress members who were born in the United States to go back to where they came from, you call district attorneys animals, and have attacked black jouenalistas stupid and had diner with a white supremacist, now you stand here wanting votes, why should we trust you?".

Before the guy can even say thanks for inviting me, when only one candidate shows up is probably not the time to go for the 2 minute gotcha and is likely going to result in you answering questions about your professionalism..... who would have thought.

You got 2 minutes of gotcha and now we are right back to the dems having a candidate who can only read speeches.

😃

I’m a reluctant Harris voter and generally agree our leaders need to be accountable. But I do think Harris deserves a bit of a pass for the next couple weeks. She and her team have to put together a wealth of new policy planks, they have to restart the campaign, they have to capitalize on early momentum. Usually a candidate does all of that prep before they even announce their candidacy.

If by late September she hasn’t done media interviews then yes I consider that a black mark.

It’s only been 11 days since Biden dropped out.

You serious?

The nominee that just replaced Biden at the top of the ticket hasn't had an interview or press conference in almost 2 weeks. You don't find that a little....weird?

Torbee, you know that question is way over the top, especially foe an introduction. That was weak ass shit and frankly, it's another example of the media trying to go after him. Read the words.

The funny part is, you know damn well they would have asked Trump that and then looked at Kamala and said "spell red".

But she can't spell red, because she can't even show up.

Harris has been a candidate for exactly 10 days.
Trump has been a candidate for 2 years. This is the first time he has faced tough questioning in 2 years.
Harris will get her time "in the barrel" as Roger Stone put it...but first she has to secure the Democratic party nomination.

Do you have an issue with the question that was asked, or only the fact that they didn’t chit chat for 30 seconds and coddle him for showing up before asking it?

She's apparently decided on a "basement" campaign....and it's working.

It is what it is.
I am suspicious that the media will be able to carry the water for harris as well as they did biden. Biden was old and able to hide behind covid to avoid campaigning. Kamala can't pull that with the current state of things. Too many issues to pretend all is well and your presence isn't required.

Seems like a very generous timeline.

I guess she needs time to study how to explain all her new policy positions. I mean she's basically flip flopped on every position she held in 2019 :)

You are demanding she consolidate the Democratic party, wrangle all the necessary delegates, reassure donors, raise massive amounts of money, take over an entire election, and do interviews in just a week and a half?

If he didn’t say/do all of those things, then that wouldn’t have been the first question.

I hear where you are coming from, but I’m guessing she is working her ass off getting everything up and running and capitalizing on the initial momentum. That is WAY more important right now than sitting with journalists.

I cannot imagine how much work she had to do with the existing campaign infrastructure to retool their approach.

Let’s check back in a month or so and see if this is still an issue.

For those of you who think Kamala is suddenly going to jump in front of the podium I would encourage you to look at the litany of appearances she made as VP.. ill wait, now thst your done.... some of you that haven't completely crushed your short term memory may even recall he taking heat for hidding as a VP. But yea, she's tots going to run to the podium now.

No disagreement there on the flip flopping. But, she seems to be flipping to a more moderate position (thank goodness) and she is not Trump. Those are important factors here.

I don’t think I’m generous on timeline; having led large transformations in business, I know these things don’t happen overnight. Either way, I appreciate the sentiment you have on accountability.
