Trump wants 50% tariffs

I'm telling you that the USMCA doesn't address every commodity and/or every potential tariff differential...

So fcvking what? JFC. It's trade. Not a one-for-one, product for product.

Adults do calculations to balance. Goddam. The Orange Turd Is a fcvking moron, He thinks the U.S. and other countries should be 50:50.

Don't tell me you're in his pre-school level mental camp.

you guys...stop me if you heard this before

but trump (and his supporters, of course) thinks someone is cheating them on a previously agreed upon deal

Is this true Michael? It appears as though nobody in Canada has been paying any tarriff on U.S. dairy products because of a large threshold that was carved out before any tarriffs actually kicked in. Isn't that kind of an important element of the policy that you omitted?

The more legitimate criticism of Canada's dairy industry is that they restrict supply. But this is more of a problem for Canadians than Americans. Interestingly this arguably benefits American dairy because generally speaking equivalent Canadian dairy products are more expensive. Which is part of the reason that Canada buys a considerable amount of American dairy and as you note we haven't reached the threshold for the tariff.

Umm, the tariffs on dairy only kicked in after the previously agreed upon quota was met. We export more dairy into Canada than they export to us. The tariffs only are in place to protect the small farmers in Canada, unlike the US they value the small farmer.
So let me get this straight we’re willing to trash both economies over some dairy tariffs. Or other small potatoes. That’s the hill Trump is dying on :).

Before January 1st, Canada had tariffs on certain U.S. products, primarily in sectors protected under its supply management system. These included:

· Dairy Products: Tariffs ranged from 200% to 300% on items like milk, cheese, and butter to protect Canadian dairy farmers.

· Poultry and Eggs: Similar high tariffs were applied to chicken, turkey, and eggs.

· Grain Products: Some grains faced tariffs, though these were generally lower than those on dairy and poultry.

These tariffs were part of Canada's long-standing trade policies to support domestic industries.

So you support this?

Trump doubles down. No longer fentanyl but electricity!

Electricity effects many innocent people.

Put punitive tariffs… don’t?

You assholes that voted for this, I hope you're happy.
Something that's kinda funny to think about is if we went back 6 months and told the public that one of the 2 POTUS candidates would want to start a trade war with Canada in an attempt to get Canada to join the United States, people would laugh if your face and admit it's stupidity.

And now we have some idiots on here supporting it, saying it's a smart strategic move.
