I don’t believe I’ve ever seen this before. Two BIG teams had 5 first downs each. One was Iowa…..of course they won 13-10. The other was Purdue…they lost 66-0. Here are the Boiler “ incredible “ stats.

Passing 53
Rushing 13
1st downs 5
3rd down efficiency 0/11
Punts 9
Interceptions 2
Fumbles lost 3

Now, I truly understand when Kirk says
“That’s football.”

Two teams with 5 first downs. One held the opponent to 10 points. Defense.
Their head coach is a defensive guy so that has to just steam him.

And Purdue has to make a change because that is two bad years in a row and they went from bad last year to really really bad this year

They had five first downs and 66 yards and got the shit kicked out of them 38-14 by Wisconsin in 2018, managing points on a pair of defensive touchdowns. A lot easier to win having no functioning offense when you play Nebraska I guess, lol.

Well that and PU with FIVE turnovers, Lord knows how many of those set Indiana up for short field scores. How about penalties? Iowa had ZERO until the PI call in the second half. The only way you win a game like that is to play clean disciplined football. No turnovers, few penalties, solid special teams play and over all pretty solid on defense, and make the key plays. In the 4Q Iowa with three huge key plays, one by KJ2, one by Mad Max LL, and the clutch 54yd field goal.....

We somehow beat ten teams last year with the worst offense in the country. Only coaching can do that. Or Devine intervention.

Try looking at the hidden stats. NO turnovers, almost NO penalties, special teams. The difference from being in the game and losing by 3+ TD's...

Purdue is an example of a team that does nothing well. Can't run. Can't pass. Can't stop the run. Can't stop the pass. Bottom 5 in scoring AND points allowed. They are the worst team in all of FBS with the exception of Kent State who managed to go 0-12 in the MAC this year.

Then add in turnovers and penalties and you get the kind of beat down they got yesterday.....

I would add our last punt as a key 4th quarter play. Seemed like he got off a pretty long punt and there was no return.

Flipped the field and allowed us to already be in FG position after the strip sack.

I'm going with Devine intervention because coaching is what's responsible for the horrible O.
Kirk is a great coach. If he would just turn the offense over we would be playoff material almost every year.
He does so many things right, O is not one of them.

Another feather in KF's cap . . . oops. KF does not cover those silver locks . . . EVER. Another notch on his belt, perhaps?
