Obviously our focus now is wrapping up the Dec. signees and we sometimes forget about the kids who committed early. Went back and watched highlights of Tyler Goodson at RB and my goodness he is a player! He's been compared to Wadley and rightfully so IMO, looks bigger and thicker as a HS SR and just like Akrum has some crazy footwook, extremely quick cuts and isn't afraid of contact either

Safe to say if he's ok picking up a blitz or two and grasps the offense he'll be tough to keep off the field next fall. Had in excess of 30 offers and nice collection of P5, makes me wonder how he doesn't have at least 4 stars but that's being debated on other threads!

I have to admit when I first seen Nebraska recruiting him I wasn't sure because I got caught him in the stars. I watched some of his film and was pleasantly surprised. I think this kid is very underrated and will shock the BIG in two years.

I think it’s more of a Harry Geil issue and Samson Evans issues. They may not feel they are going to be good and don’t want to find the next starter in line sooner rather than later

Maybe to early on Giel. Ran a little stiff and tall imo, but he was a true frosh. I think Brian’s philosophy calls for more backs in that ARob/Wegher/Wadley/Sargent mold.

A lot of guys but you know what I mean... smaller/quicker/shifty backs

It really isn't meant as any slam on any one person. The Iowa offense needs big plays from the running back to be as successful as it can be. Iowa basically just didn't get that this year with the exception of Illinois and Nebraska. And those defenses were two of the worst running defenses, so that's natural.

Kid from Rutgers cancels visit, is sticking with Rutgers....wow..Rutgers over Iowa but like Jacobs the early bond with Ash and staff keeps him there.

I suspect he will contribute somewhere. I don't know about the talent level he played against but watching his highlight film it is fairly obvious he was the best player on the field.

We have quality backs but there were only tiny holes to run through this year and we still run right into 8-9 man fronts. No worries in the backfield.

At least for one season anyway he will get to be coached by them before they are canned after the 2019 season.

There's a number of biases that go into this.

Team he plays for, competition level, his size/weight, and yes even his committment to Iowa factor into services grading him a step lower.

But another that's become big these days from what I've seen are all these major invite camps. Has he gotten any offers to go, or has he attended any big camps? How did he fare?

You look at Epenesa and it didn't matter that he committed to Iowa. He was an Army AA and showed at a number of camps against some highly rated recruits why he was one of the better DE recruits in the nation. It did also help that he had offers from basically a who's who of college football. The only program in this year's CFP that didn't offer him was Clemson.

That personally smells of "you will be the starter at Rutgers son, why would you want to go all the way to Iowa and play part time"

At Least it was not Fleck!

You better have two per class...not just at Iowa

How many years in a row is that he has come calling during the last week of recruiting? Is there a personal element or he just views Iowa as an easy target to poach from?

He hates Iowa. But also it’s not like Iowa doesn’t do the same thing.

Iowa certainly poaches towards the end of the cycle, but it seems to be a crime of opportunity, (coaches left or commit is currently with MAC school). I can't think of a specific school that Iowa continually poaches from except maybe UNI.

I think a lot of it has to do with Iowa's staff being good evaluators of talent. If he misses on a top recruit then he tries to pouch from us because he thinks the all mighty Michigan brand is great. Looking forward to seeing Tyler in the Black and Gold and that he said thanks but no thanks.

Take a hike Harbaby. Go pick your nose behind the shed.

Rutgers...would of been 3 years in a row if Adams came aboard
