Oglesby at least had the SIZE for this level of basketball, so he could be a solid defender and all that.
Ellingson does not.
Ellingson does not.
You have said Woody isn't D1. You have said MG isn't Big Ten material. You have said a lot of stuff and it normally about as accurate as the weatherman.Yeah, i hate to bust on the kid, but i have always said i just don't think he is D1 material. Honestly, how is he different than some of the kids on Wartburg's or Upper Iowa's roster?
What does he bring? If he is just not crazy deadly (which he is FAR from) from 3 point range, then answer is absolutely nothing.
I think he gets phased out soon. Might be the scholarship that opens up. I just think this is the wrong level of competition for him.
I know, bash me, and I'm sorry. Just one man's opinion I guess, and that is all it is. He would be a good player for Grinnell and that style of basketball I think.
I don't think many people said MG and Woodie were "sub-par." I think the expectations were high for them with their AAU backgrounds and star ratings. Both are competent, and can play at a high level. They both are much better this year because there is more talent on the court. Neither one of them have the ability to carry a team for extended periods of time with their scoring. They aren't that type of talent. But team players, hard workers, competent, experienced...yes, and yes. They both know what their roles are...and seem much more at ease knowing they aren't needed as "go-to" guys for scoring...Jok, and Uthoff are those guys.
Can you please provide a link as to when I said those things? Thanks....
Subpar was being nice. There have been multiple threads where you and others have repeatedly been extremely critical of Iowa's PG play, and Mike Gesell in particular. Even now, the most you are willing to give Mike is "competent". It is hard to be a good PG, if you don't have people around you, who can put the ball in the basket. If the vote were today, Mike would probably be third-team all-B1G. He has almost a 4:1 assist-to-turnover ratio, is an excellent defensive player, and is clearly one of the leaders on this team. He is more than holding his own against some of the top PGs in the country. Yesterday was another example.I don't think many people said MG and Woodie were "sub-par." You have also said Fran needs to fire some assistants because our poor recruiting will never get us to the top half the conference. Can you please provide a link as to when I said those things? Thanks....

Yeah, i hate to bust on the kid,
I just could never understand Oglesby getting so many minutes...and I can't understand at all why Ellingson is in there...with other options available that at least "can" do something productive from time to time. We will see...perhaps he has talents that he displays in practice...

AGREEYes, but can we please give Flemming or someone else some minutes rather than Ellingson.

haha, yep. I like how he won't address me personally anymore, but likes anyones comment who bashes me. lol.
i will say this, sorry if i turned this post away from the main gist, which is giving props to uhl/wagner/baer.
They have been great!
Hansen really relies on the "likes" option on here. It gives him great happiness when someone likes one of his posts.I don't need to waste my time responding when 5 other posters did...2 of them more than once. I'm happy you are tracking my likes..but seems a little weird don't you think?
so you call me out for not calling you out...so I responded...happy now?
Broke your rules Bob, you are not suppose to talk to me.
Bob likes to give likes and to get likes...he is likable, and was a good boy growing up, and the teachers liked him...and he liked that and liked the teachers back...then he grew up and starting posting on rivals...and he doesn't like that.
