Unusually persistent cold weather dominates central Florida....

It didn’t break 60 in Tampa until 3 pm or so yesterday. I was fishing the Bypass Canal in the morning and it was ~55 with a stiff breeze. Rained as well. Sucky ass weather.

Pretty strong rain bands came through a little while ago. We can now feel the cooler air starting to filter in. Temps are expected to drop 30 degrees between now and dawn.

18 degrees with a wind chill of 11 here this morning. Yes, I have a Florida address.

*edit - dropped to 17° by the time I left for the office.

Predicted low for today, according to the WC app yesterday, was 41. Currently 43 at 6 am. It was 45 at 5 am so 41 might still happen. At least we didn’t get the 35 for today that the app predicted a few days ago.

Edit - 7 am low was 42

All I know is ITS FVCKING COLD!!!!! Looking at the 10 day forecast it looks like maybe a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm seeing upper 70's end of next week🤞

Saturday will be another chilly day. The 70s on Friday are due to yet another advancing cold front.

Clear and cold here in Jax this morning. Newcomers and transplants might be puzzled if they look around their neighborhood and see what looks like laundry drying on the bushes - but it is just the locals covering up certain plants so they’ll survive a freeze. My copper plant got covered up for sure.

Yeah. I brought in a bunch of potted plants last night. It's supposed to be mid 20s tonight so they'll stay in the garage.

Weird temps today. Low was at 3 am (46) and warmer at 7 am (49.) It is usually coldest at 7 am, at least in Tampa.

You think that doesn't happen in the midwest? 🤣

At one point Tuesday evening there was nearly a 50 point swing in temps from The upper Keys to Pensacola.
There used to be a popular Visit Florida tourism ad with a jingle that went “When you’ve got it bad we’ve got it good —- Come to Flor-I-da”🥶🥶🥶

I’ve lived in Michigan and Wisconsin and never covered up any of our landscaping so no I don’t recall it being a thing.
I've only done it a few times on my tomato plants in the spring, but it's common if you have flowers you want protected.

This weekend is gonna suck with highs around 55 and lows under 40. BUT then it looks like mid-70s and low 80s by the end of next week.

Does anyone remember the 2010 Orange Bowl? I swear the local news stations were advising people to carry spades with them in case they came across a stunned iguana so you could cut their heads off.

We were discussing this recently in another thread. It was 34 degrees at 2 am on Miami Beach

It's about 40 and very windy here today; I spent 30 minutes looking for attaching pair of socks. This is some bullshit.
