The precursors started moving to Mexico, and we started seeing the pills and powder come across the southwest border specifically trafficked mostly by the Sinaloa cartel. Even today, they control that corridor between Mexico and Arizona and California.
That whole thing is a link from cbp.gov and is from 2024 which means it predates Trump.
Biden secured help from Mexico without risking our markets. He simply sat down with them and negotiated like a real adult. It's ok to admit that Trump is inept here.

Not only backlash but when you add tariffs to imports that allows domestic producers to raise their price too - so you screw over companies that employ Americans to import goods, and you make domestic products more expensive for Americans.
