I probably wouldn't vote for a 19 year old, but I don't understand the barrier to them choosing to run for President. I know the law says 35, I'm just wondering what is the justification for that age requirement.

But they take it in a different language. You asked me what else they should know other than history and politics. I thought the English language would be a pretty important one. It’s truly one of the first things any American child learns aside from motor skills.

I would almost guarantee that’s wrong. Maybe everyone should have to pass the citizenship test before they can vote. All new citizens would pass. I think a healthy percentage of Americans would not.

Did you read the requirements to take the test in a different language. They have to have been permanent US residents for a least 15-20 years to have that exemption. Only 11.6% use the language exemption.
Yep and I agree. A 17 year old shouldn't be voting in federal elections. I can see an argument for local.

I was being cheeky about the voting age. But I actually do agree with either a max age or some sort of required mental competence test for national office. I don’t believe Biden would pass now for instance.
I also don’t think politicians like Pelosi and Grassley should have what amounts to lifetime positions.

That's certainly what they are afraid of even though many immigrants are very conservative. If MAGA would stop demonizing them they would probably get their votes.

The American way is immigration. Almost all of us are descendants from immigrants. Being born in America doesn't make anyone more worthy of citizenship than someone that actually has to apply for and earn citizenship.
