Walsh Ironman results

Congrats to our two stud recruits Spencer Lee and Jacob Warner on their Ironman titles!

Nice tournament for Spencer. He wasn't happy at all based on his actions after the match, but these guys are really good and he is giving up some weight to them.

Lee gave up a take down. Brands better pull the scholarship offer immediately.

Scholarship.................

I thought he was a walk-on............

Lee clearly a small 126. Incredible to win at this level wrestling up. Just needs about five more pounds of muscle.
----

So Lee's last two matches were decisions, winning by 5-0 in semi's and 7-3 in finals.

It did look like Silva was bigger than Lee. I wonder if Lee is actually a 120#er right now, just wrestling up a weight from what might be his ideal (120#), for the challenge.

Regardless, his technique is so good, he still wins against the very best 126#ers.

Lee's legs are fine. He could add pounds to his upper body, mostly his arms. It's crazy to think what he would do with more upper body strength. Dude's sick.

It's Bartlett's world after Lee. PSU's to lose?

I didn't think he looked small, just lack of focus at the end of the match. TnT yelling at him should help.

Didn't he just wrestle 110 this summer? Clearly he's not a full fledged 126 lber if that's the case, or 120 for that matter (IMO).

What he is, is good enough to beat some of the best High School wrestlers in the country in an undersized capacity. We can work with that. ;)

Thought I read some place that Lee would go 126 at Iron Mans but will go 120 in the
state tourney going for his 4th. Could be wrong.
Also anyone know why Teasdale was not there surprise to me .

As an tOSU grad/fan, my thoughts, for what its worth:

1. Warner was the most impressive wrestler this weekend. You guys got a hammer. He did not give up a point IIRC. No escapes. I would have given him the outstanding wrestler award.

2. Woods mauled Decatur, as mentioned above. Made me sick.
Woods beat Decatur last year at Ironman. Close match, then Woods opened it up in the 3rd.
Decatur beat Woods at the UWW cadet tourney at Akron this summer, in the semifinals. So these two seem to be going back and forth. Woods wins the folk and Decatur wins the freestyle matches.
Real Woods is one of the few guys that can match Jordan's quickness.
The match on Saturday was the first time in a long time that Jordan looked bad. I wonder if the close semi-final loss to Silva affected him. In the last year, I think he only lost to RBY. He lost 2 straight in the UWW finals to RBY- who was the better freestyle wrestler, by far. But, other than those 2 matches, he has been on a role. Hope he bounces back after this weekend.
Jordan was around 25 seconds from the finals (against Silva) and gave up that late TD, then Silva did what he needed to do to ride him for 24 secords. That was a great match and it made me sick that Jordan lost. He was in deep 3 times without scoring. The size differential was too much to overcome.

3. Agree with the above comments on Cohton Shultz. He will be a great one. You guys should go after him hard.

Would've loved to see Murin and Teasdale at this tourney. Anyone know what tourneys their schools are attending this year? Beast?

I could be wrong, but Murin (Central Cambria) won't be in any national level tournaments this season.

As for Teasdale, his school competes at the PowerAde Christmas tournament (12/29-30) which is usually on Flo. Lee will be at PowerAde too.

It also looks like Murin and Teasdale will be at the Bedford tournament in late January so that might be a bigger PA tournament.

Finally looking at schedules it appears that Lee's high school will have a dual with Teasdale's on 2/16
