Walsh Ironman results

J War just grinding on top. His top control is really good. Never gives up an easy escape, unless he wants to. Constantly looking to turn. Getting back. 5-0 now

J War on to the finals with 11-0 win. Looked really good. Relentless on top. Constant head pressure on his feet, made Salas make mistakes and punished him. Picked his spots and scored off of his own shots. His conditioning looked better than it did at Junior Worlds. 195 is a good weight for him. He's a big kid and is going to do great things at Iowa at 197.

J War is going to LOVE the giant mat in Carver.

That is an excellent point Vak. J War, Schultz and Troy (to a lesser extent) have been driving dudes back all tournament. No stall calls against their opponents that I've seen. That big mat in college is going to help. As bad as NCAA reffing can be, the lack of stall calls in HS is ridiculous. Literally, if you don't want to wrestle, no one is going to make you.

He didn't ball up or lay flat. He was actively trying to escape. Lee is pretty good on top and prevented the escape.

Madrigal definitely chose his spots in neutral but was not stalling. Madrigal tried to win the match.

Agreed. He was in on a shot early and could not finish due to Lee's incredible defense and strength. Lee did not look concerned at all. Madrigal did seem to light up near the end of the mat, but I think that was because he was reshooting. Lee would push him to the edge or Madrigal would back up to the edge and when Lee fired off a shot, Madrigal would try to reshoot or drag behind. He also tried a couple of other shots that Lee was able to score off of. Lee never scored on one offensive shot. It was all reshots.
Lee did however push Madrigal all over the mat. He definitely did not appear to be in any trouble and did not get frustrated. The way it looked to me, if they wrestled for about 5 hours, Madrigal would not have gotten a takedown, but he would have eventually gotten an escape.
Madrigal wrestled hard. He just isn't capable of beating someone of Lee's caliber at this point in time.
All in all, it was a pretty good match.

I don't think they've wrestled by just looking at Track. Silva does have a good win over Austin Gomez, a close loss to ISU's Ian Parker and close freestyle losses to JRent.
thanks, should be a good match

Wow. Top seed Mitch Moore goes down in the finals to 7th seeded Zack Donathan who earlier knocked off J-Rent.
They have faced each other multiple times and I wouldn't be surprised if they roll around some during the summer months. Mason and St Paris are only about 60 miles apart.

It was on the other side of the mat but it looked like Moore got caught in a pancake?
