WBB Transfer Portal Targets 2025-2026

▪️Yarden Garzon - out of Indiana
▫️6’3 guard
▫️14.4 PPG | 5.4 RPG | 3.2 APG | 40.7% 3PT
▫️1 year of eligibility remaining
▫️Entered as “do not contact”
▫️2024-25 All-Big Ten Second Team

She’s also one of the best shooters in the country.

No thanks. Have never liked her game at all, she's either on with her shot or she's a pouter. I don't see her as a "fit" for Iowa's culture.

Did a quick compare between her and Lucy and her and Syd since that's mainly the 2 pieces Jan seems to be targeting this time around coming from her own words.

For the most part, all 3 rated out close enough as in what you gain in one area you lose in another. However, where Yarden falls the most is in assists to Lucy and she falls on rebounds to Syd. For being 6'3" and not being a better rebounder, it would concern me if that's where they slot her. Don't see it happening especially when you have Hannah already who could probably match Yarden in points but kill her on the boards. Why pay more for someone who most likely covers Yarden's production already.

Since she's not really a replacement for either of those two leaving, the only person left to pick on is McCabe as she is a 40%+ for 3. McCabe is not an assist machine or a rebounder like Syd. She would definitely rate out better and take her spot. But that poses a potential problem for incoming players as well.

If Jan gets Jada Williams, then that means Addie Deal will be working 2 or 3 with Kylie. It seems Yarden wouldn't have a starting spot because #4 needs to rebound and she's not strong there. Plus, she surely wouldn't go somewhere not to start. The way I see Yarden coming here is if Addie Deal plays point so Yarden can slip into McCabe's spot. She rates better than McCabe both offensively and defensively.

Wouldn't pay her much to take McCabe's spot. Probably less than what we paid for Lucy and that's another reason she probably won't be a fit here because she can most likely get a bigger bag somewhere else.

She doesn't seem to fit into the two transfers mold that Jan is talking about. However, if she decides that only one piece is needed and get a good price tag on Yarden to take McCabe's spot and places Deal at point, then I guess there's a slight possibility for it to work. For some reason the square peg seems a little bigger than the round hole.

The culture thing may be a problem. I did not pay enough attention to speak on that part of it. But if that is true as well, then that square peg just got a much larger.

Could be wrong, but that's how I see it from the outside with limited insight to see Jan's bigger picture. Maybe someone else sees it differently and could persuade me to see a better configuration that could work.

Thats fine. I've just never been a fan of hers. Think she's another player with a "tude".

This is what I get for assuming Iowa had survived the first round of portal exists.

Maybe she tests the waters and opts to come back. I guess we will see.
Though after a year of playing, the coaches still have lots of interest in future point guards--
and this seems the obvious domino effect with the current interest in Jada Williams.

This is the risk of recruiting over the current roster. Now the PG is a need rather than a want.

Garzon would be the points they need to replace. She's what everyone wishes McCabe could be, but she's a best player available type of pick-up based on Iowa's current roster. She doesn't get a lot of rebounds for Indiana because she plays out on the arc for the most part. Her agent can contact the teams she wants, and she will get paid.

It will be interesting to see what kind of player she actually ends up being. In my mind she's flashed skills but I'd still label her unproven.

I maybe alone in this, but Stremlow though not as quick, was pretty solid with the ball as a freshman. Stronger, better court vision, rebounds and has some Syd in her
And quite honestly I thought Levin has looked very connected when she gets on the floor. Would like to see her get 5 or 6 minutes a game next season and see what she has....

Maybe/probably the game will slow down for Guyton, but too often she was out of control.

Given her parent's background, I'd bet she was being coached at home and it didn't necessarily match JJ's approach.

Good luck to her as long as it's not another B1G team.
I'll be surprised if she doesn't end up being steered by pops to Indiana. If so, I hope she plays like crap.....

Could be a good MVC player. I'd take Maya McDermott and Katie Dinnebier over her all day long.
At this point its hard to say how good she "could be". She just needs to slow down and let the game come to her. To a degree its the same thing with Mallegni. I highly doubt that pops is going to steer her to a lower level program.

She's more of a 3 or stretch 4. Would love to have her. But at what point are we messing with team chemistry?

Yes getting a pg and 3-4 combo makes us nasty and fills all ? Marks this next year. I just don't want to see people leave because of playing time
We don't need her bitchy attitude.

Stremlow is not a point guard. She is a role player at the 3 spot. She plays real hard, can rebound some, but hasn't proved that she can score consistently and is very error prone passing the ball being out of control often.

We need 2 or 3 portal pick ups and with over 900 available, I'm hopeful Jan and coach's can find the right combination to play with Ava, Hanna and Deal. Feuerbach and McCabe can compete with new players for playing time. We need a 1, 3, and 4 in my opinion.

She was a freshman. Every team needs players like Stremlow.

With the portal these days a team cannot worry about “recruiting one” existing players. You want to develop your young players and keep them for four years, but you have to always be looking for transfers that will no improve the team.

Eliminating the turnovers getting the ball up court is a definite need. The team got a lot better with it, but I'm sure Jensen wants to burn the press and have teams think twice with it. Requires at least one player with solid experience and handles. Curious to see if they land Williams or bring in someone else.

I watched a replay of Iowa vs, Washington State last night and Stremlow was outstanding. She threw 3 fairly long no look passes on the fast break, and of course our players missed 2 of the 3. In the 3rd Q, the announcer mentioned Stremlow was involved in almost every play. She probably isn't going to be the PG next year, but she can play the position. Then there is her tenacity going after rebounds, so she can play on my team anytime.
