WBB Transfer Portal Targets 2025-2026

This is very disappointing. We need to add 2-3 quality players from the portal this offseason. Hopefully Jan and the staff have some other good options and can make them happen

There is some smoke that IA backed off from Williams and actually didn't offer due to a lack of culture fit, poor attitude, potential chemistry / locker room issue.

I tend to believe this, I can't believe ISU WBB has a better package to sell than IA WBB hoops.

what are you talking about? Half the staff and some of the team are lesbians. Who cares? It's women's sports and has been happening since the beginning of women's sports. Lots of grandma's and great grandmas were lesbians.
It seems to matter in the WNBA. They want to play on the same team as their spouses - and do.

I think Iowa probably has more money available than Iowa State. That said, there are scenarios where Iowa State could potentially offer a player more than Iowa was willing to.

One tricky thing about Williams is she has two years of eligibility left. Iowa is still pursuing many of the top players in the class of 2026. If Williams' cost in year two might've impacted Iowa's ability to bring in some of its top targets, Iowa might've said no even though on paper it could beat Iowa State's offer.

To be clear I have no specific intel on the situation. It's quite possible Iowa didn't offer because there wasn't a fit. Just wanted to mention the extra possibility.

If the situation didn't fit, it's all for the best. Very possible year 1 sounded great, but year 2 wasn't assured. Optimism would suggest the coaching staff is feeling good about the '26 class, and that is their primary focus. Pessimism would suggest hoping that optimism doesn't come back to haunt them.

But who knows? It's all just guessing when really it could be the most mundane things that form decisions.

How many college students playing college basketball are married, gay or straight? Do you know? Men or Women? And how many players are married to other players in WNBA or total couples? 3, 4? Seems like a minuscule amount that warrants little to no attention, except as the outliers they are.

Also, lack of gay culture in Iowa city?! hahahahahahahahahaha, that's satire right?
Chicago Cubs is to the Des Moines Cubs
As
Boystown, Chicago is to University of Iowa campus, Iowa City
Does it have to do with Iowa's lack of lesbian culture!?

Yeah, IC was the Midwestern epicenter of LGBTQ activity when I attended way back in the late 70's. And to suggest that Iowa State's campus is more welcoming to African-American students is comical. With its higher percentage of "agricultural" enrollees there are many kids that have never before sat in a classroom with a Black classmate. Angel Reese was more instrumental in fostering the "racist" reputation of Iowa than any activity by Iowa WBB.

WOW! Does ND even have enough on the roster to put a starting lineup on the floor? I realize they don't need to with the season over, but man something rotten is brewing over there.

▪️Kylee Watson - out of Notre Dame
▫️6’4 forward
▫️DNP in 2024-25 (injury)
▫️2023-24 Stats: 6.2 PPG | 5.0 RPG | 1.3 APG | 1.4 BPG
▫️1 year of eligibility remaining
▫️no. 17 recruit in HS class of 2020

Makes me wonder how bad it would have to get before Hidalgo would jump in the portal.

So, she'll fit right in with the Clowns.

ISU, Texas (Austin), Kansas (KU) are more 'suburban' than you might think.

Austin absolutely, but that's a one million plus metro area. Lawrence and Ames in 2nd and 3rd place on your list. Any university town is going to be more diverse/liberal than a similar-sized town without college influence.

You know our head coach is a lesbian?
Guys, I THINK he was either being sarcastic, or he was talking about "Iowa" as in the state, and not the team. Pretty much everyone knows about the Iowa staff and several former players being gay..

It's already been posted twice, but here's another - the Reverend Hannah Hidalgo is running the sinners off. I don't think they have a team left. Praise the Lord.

Pretty much Hidalgo, Poster, 2 walk ons, and an incoming freshman.

If that happened at Iowa, people would be asking for the coach's head.

She played AAU with Brynn McGaughy for Meta Hoops. Iowa wasn't in her final 5. She did get the chance to see the GameDay atmosphere when USC came to town.
Ya let's not forget she experienced a hell of an atmosphere that whole game too. I think it's a stretch that we get her. She'll most likely be able to go wherever she wants. But if we could we have to take her
