Just terrible news for the people that were champing at the bit to have the dog put down.
Patience grasshopper. They will be by shortly to chime in.

Sounds like you should just bring the single female pediatrician into your bedroom. Logical next step!Funny you should ask.
We texted his teacher and she pulled him into the hallway to tell him. She said he literally jumped up and down with excitement. We're going to get Joey moved in then take him down there for a visit after school. My wife will continue to walk both dogs each day like she always does. So we'll be able to still see Joey regularly in a more controlled and monitored way.
It's still hard, but so much better than the alternative.
You didn't say no pics after saying she's a single pediatricianWell, I prayed for a miracle and the good Lord provided one just like Abraham and Isaac. I was literally ONE hour from our scheduled appointment to have him put down.
Mosley's mom (Joey's best pal) just got back from Jamaica and wants to take Joey in and rehome him (either permanently or temporarily). She's a single pediatrician with no kids and loves him as much as her dog. She wants to bring in the one behavioral specialist we talked to who said she could help and see if we can retrain Joey with the hopes that as both Matt and Joey get older, he can return home one day.
Worst case scenario, Joey just lives out his days one street over with his best pal and a lady who loves him. She's never had an issue with Joey and has been watching him for us since he was a pup.
It's a known fact that most German shepherds are anti-semites. I don't trust them either, and I love dogs.I've been bit by 3 different dogs in my life, all German shepherds. I think they can sense my fear of them... or maybe they think I'm Jewish. Either way, not a fan.

This is not true. I'm a dog lover. I'm also in the camp that if a dog is a serial attacker (That wasn't just a bite, it was an attack), the safest and most humane solution is euthanasia. There is a reason why insurance companies take the same position, excluding dogs who've previously bitten from policies.Just terrible news for the people that were champing at the bit to have the dog put down.

On a related note, the wife and I were camping when we saw this dog barking without sound. We asked the owner what was up with the dog. Owner tells me the dog was a barker so they had the dog's vocal cords cut. 😬Couldn't you just pay some back-alley vet (dentist?) to pull all of the dog's teeth? I'm only somewhat joking.
That sucks. My sister had a dog that would bark at everything. She put a collar on her that would mist water on her every time she barked. It trained the dog pretty quicklyOn a related note, the wife and I were camping when we saw this dog barking without sound. We asked the owner what was up with the dog. Really wish we could do this for ppl tooThis is not true. I'm a dog lover. OP is in a really tough position and I feel his pain. Nobody with a heart doesn’t. For the sake of the dog and the people involved, I'm sincerely hopeful that this solution leads to a happy and incident free existence for everyone.
Man that's awesome news. I gotta admit this whole thing has affected me more than I'd like to admit. Damn dogs!Well, I prayed for a miracle and the good Lord provided one just like Abraham and Isaac. I was literally ONE hour from our scheduled appointment to have him put down.

Here's Joey when we dropped him yesterday afternoon. It helped he was very excited and we didn't have to drag him. That's WONDERFUL news, Alaska Guy! I'm not a real religious person, but you may have just moved the needle one notch for me.
Sounds like Mosely's mom was just the right person! Joey looks like a beautiful dog and most importantly your son is safe AND happy about the outcome!
Best of luck and hopefully we can revisit this thread in six months with a positive update. Lord knows we need more positive stories around here.
To the pricks who are likely inbound. Fvck off from me!

We took our son over there after school so they could run around in the yard. This was the boys last night after a full day of play:
It's still pretty sad. Our home is quiet and feels like its missing something. I missed our hide-n-seek routine last night for sure.
Who knows what the future holds, but Joe's in good and capable hands and he's happy.

To each their own I guess, but this move is stupid IMO. Again, love for an animal trumps human safety. You don't re-home a dog that has bitten it's owner..you put it down

Millie. You don't want to give the dog identity issues!UPDATE:
A good friend from High School has a farm outside Atlanta. She breeds 4 different types of Doodles and has one named Millie who needs rehoming. She's a Golden Mountain Doodle (a cross between a Golden Retriever, a Bernese Mountain Dog, and a Poodle). She just got married and between the two of them now have SEVEN dogs. She said Mollie would be the perfect dog for our son.

He's actually doing well. He's happier than I've seen him. completely attached to Mosely. His new owner is researching a behavioral trainer to come work with both Joey and her dog (Mosely). How is Joey doing?
And what do you contribute here? ....other than being a douche canoe?Dog people can't even go two weeks without a dog.
That’s because dogs are man’s best friend.Dog people can't even go two weeks without a dog.
Congrats....she's SO cute!UPDATE:

Yeah, you might want to start on the last page and go in reverse chronological order. You know what needs to be done. It just sucks
It will hurt worse is something else happens. And it probably will
