We texted his teacher and she pulled him into the hallway to tell him. She said he literally jumped up and down with excitement. We're going to get Joey moved in then take him down there for a visit after school. My wife will continue to walk both dogs each day like she always does. So we'll be able to still see Joey regularly in a more controlled and monitored way.

It's still hard, but so much better than the alternative.

Sounds like you should just bring the single female pediatrician into your bedroom. Logical next step!

Well, I prayed for a miracle and the good Lord provided one just like Abraham and Isaac. I was literally ONE hour from our scheduled appointment to have him put down.

Mosley's mom (Joey's best pal) just got back from Jamaica and wants to take Joey in and rehome him (either permanently or temporarily). She's a single pediatrician with no kids and loves him as much as her dog. She wants to bring in the one behavioral specialist we talked to who said she could help and see if we can retrain Joey with the hopes that as both Matt and Joey get older, he can return home one day.

Worst case scenario, Joey just lives out his days one street over with his best pal and a lady who loves him. She's never had an issue with Joey and has been watching him for us since he was a pup.

This is not true. I'm a dog lover. I'm also in the camp that if a dog is a serial attacker (That wasn't just a bite, it was an attack), the safest and most humane solution is euthanasia. There is a reason why insurance companies take the same position, excluding dogs who've previously bitten from policies.

OP is in a really tough position and I feel his pain. Nobody with a heart doesn’t. For the sake of the dog and the people involved, I'm sincerely hopeful that this solution leads to a happy and incident free existence for everyone.

That sucks. My sister had a dog that would bark at everything. She put a collar on her that would mist water on her every time she barked. It trained the dog pretty quickly

This story has been consuming me all week. I've just had this pit in my stomach that he was so young and was going to be put down. I understand the circumstances and realize there was probably little choice left in the manner. What a great person that lady is to take him in. Glad it all worked out in the end

Couple people in our town have golden doodles. All from same breeder they all seem completely uncontrollable when they are walking them. Got bit by one while riding bike but I was wearing pants so I don’t even stop.

Not a breed I would even own.

We have a mut rescue dog that is a lab mix. Rescue dogs are the way to go.

Here's Joey when we dropped him yesterday afternoon. It helped he was very excited and we didn't have to drag him.

We took our son over there after school so they could run around in the yard. This was the boys last night after a full day of play:

It's still pretty sad. Our home is quiet and feels like it's missing something. I missed our hide-n-seek routine last night for sure.

Who knows what the future holds, but Joe's in good and capable hands and he's happy.
