What an all around terrible game

Pretty disappointing, especially coming off a bye. No doubt.

I honestly think Brian Ferentz was not the issue this game. I had zero problems with his play calling.

The reality is Iowa has still not been good on the OL, for whatever reason(s). There were a lot of dropped balls, some obvious over throws, and some bad penalties. Perfect storm.

Iowa is a good defensive team with a below average offense. Hence why they are getting mediocre results. They will improve in time, and with a weaker schedule next year, probably have the 10-2, 9-3 record people were hoping for this year. Bottom line: this is Iowa football under Kirk Ferentz. They are competing with average talent. At this point, the outrage really makes no sense.

For the record, I'm not defending Kirk Ferentz. I'm just saying the emotional reactions and outrage at this point in his tenure make no sense. Are you really that surprised by the results?

If you like tedious, poorly executed offense with low scoring and lots of mistakes then this was your kind of game. For the rest of us, not so much.

I love me some Wadley but he should never get 23 carries. He should get 10-12 and spend a lot of time in the slot.

It’s just insane our highly paid coaches cannot figure this out.

What are you guys talking about? No new plays??? Didn't you see the QB read option on 3rd and 15? Brilliant timing for adding a new play not suited to the talents of the QB. So that's great.

I preferred the reverse, think Smith-Marsette went 20 yards deep behind the los on that play to only lose 10. Had to set them up for the QB read option.

BF should have ran that double reverse a few more times....we always get big gains with that play....... NOT

What's the most yards we've gotten with that. 5...maybe 10. Guessing that we average a 5 yard loss with the ole double reverse....but sure, keep effing running it! Idiots

So an O coordinator is simply responsible for offensive play calling? I wonder if you hold your own personal achievement to these simple standards? If so i recommend watching Baby First vs Iowa football simpleton.

Lol. The reverse. It seems like they just call shit to call it. Maybe they should just try a toss sweep to Wadley first? Did nothing to set that play up. No previous successful toss sweeps to Wadley to possibly get NW to bite on that. No toss sweeps at all. Pretty much just pulled that one outta their ass

I was adding a broader perspective. Nothing in my post implies anything as it relates to the inane drivel you just wrote.

Nice try, dip shit.

The definition of insanity, is, doing the exact same ****ing thing over and over again, expecting shit to change.
That is not the definition of insanity. It's a stupid quote from Einstein that should never be used. He was a physicist, not a damn shrink. Everytime someone uses that quote, they're holding up a flashing neon sign with "IGNORANT" on it.

fire everyone

The defense only allowed 10 points in regular time, that should be good enough to win 95% of your games. And that was without their best player on the field. This is on the offense almost entirely imo.

The offense continues to be plagued by the same 'ol, same 'ol...lack of down field passing game, which leads to a stacked box, which leads a lot of one yard runs, etc. Rinse and repeat.

Exactly, complaining about the coaching and play of college kids is has been going on for over 100 years.

Besides, everyone knows we only run the toss sweep when we’re on our own 2...

The first semi-reverse (or jet sweep?) ISM ran was okay, picked up about 5 yards. The second one? He wasn't just deep he also seemed to take forever to just get to the middle of the field for the pitch. I can put that one on the freshman instead of the coaches, I suppose. It was damn hard to tell who screwed up the most, the players or coaches, on any given play. Except for the drops and missed tackles and missed FG and bad throws. Those are on the players. Running up the gut continuously when it failed to gain yards again and again and again? That's the coaches. QB option read on 3rd and 15? Coaches. Not playing Young more to spell Wadley given he was bottled up almost completely after the first quarter and seemed to have little burst on the day. Weird progressions of plays called in the 4th quarter when Iowa should have been more urgent and aggressive. And then there was the general lack of urgency overall, as if that wasn't a must-win game--coming of a bye! NW played terrible themselves and yet that was still the best Iowa could do. Neither team is good, but Iowa is worse this year. So far. And with little light ahead given the schedule. I suppose the team might have to look at Wisconsin and Ohio State as this year's bowl games because if they don't they won't be going to a bowl against a Power 5 school. Or if they do it'll be some boring, mediocre team like ASU or Boston College.

Hey, I watched your game and then watched Minnesota/Illinois.

Someone please help me. I wouldn't wish that on someone who is incarcerated.

Wrong, he just needs to pound Wadley into the line more often like say 35 or 40 times per game and give 230 pound Toren Young a bit more rest!
