What do you guys think this means?

I think that it is a jab at some of the guys who aren't preparing like starters. Sometimes if you're "not the guy" ... it causes guys to dial down their effort and a prep a little bit. However, if a top guy goes down ... then the implication is that our "next man in" won't be quite as prepared as would be ideal. I think that there are spots that Ferentz hopes get a little more fire under their arses.

This sounds crazy but my first thought was DL. Could some guys who aren't getting snaps slacking some. Reif, Jansen, Simon. They are just kids.

Actually, if you listen to Kirk's interview ... it sounds more like a statement about Iowa's depth at LB compared to depth at other positions. Of course, that's not to say that Kirk doesn't think that more back-ups could prepare more like starters though ...

Maybe QB situation if Stanley doesn’t get it going .. and the receivers running better routes and getting open .. I think he’s getting enough protection most of the time .. but why not give P Mansell a shot here and there? He might add another element to the Iowa’s offense with his ability to run and scramble.. won’t know if they don’t try it out

This. I think the oline is in the middle of hell week.

Huh? The logical choice is WR or QB, but CB’s?
Yep, it has been said by more than one person that they don’t have good depth this year at CB. KF has mentioned it and the Big Ten crew noted it. It’s one of the reasons you saw only one nickel package against ISU and it didn’t go well.

Stanley has gone from leaving for the draft early to riding pine after a 2-0 start. Amazing.

I still remember people calling for Tate to be benched and Christensen to start at one time. Same thing was said at that time. Hindsight makes me confident the coaches know what they're doing

I was surprised to see the base D on the field at the end of the game. Apparently we like Colbert/Hockaday on the field in passing situations better than our 3rd CB.
