What happens to Grocery prices . . .

fire-bravos.gif

If Trump truly gets rid of a large percentage of migrant workers, which are a high percentage of the work force in meat packing plants, and farm workers that harvest all kinds of vegetables and fruits, who will replace these workers, and at what price . . . and how much will the prices increase at the grocery store. The short sightedness of these polices and the fact that Conservatives think that Trump will lower inflation is appalling to anyone who has a smidge of intelligence.
Ok how about this then....are we, as a country, supposed to be ok with unfettered border crossings just so we can have people to clean our houses, cut our meat, pick our crops, and smuggle our drugs? I am not the one suggesting that this is all immigrants do. OP is.

But seriously, the safety and financial aspects of this cannot be overlooked.

Democrats want to know why Hispanics and AA voted in larger percentages for Trump? Because in some segments of those populations they are worried about the cheaper labor taking their jobs. We get cheaper products, but our own citizens have less opportunity.

If we want to have immigrants to do the jobs that Americans don't want to do, we allow work visas to fill those jobs.

Second, these illegals are taking US taxpayer dollars in the form of healthcare, food, shelters, housing set up for illegals when our own citizens don't qualify for these sorts of benefits in many cases.

So that is why many of us are against illegal immigration. I love our hispanic population. In many cases I am provinf healthcare for them when they have few other options. They work hard, have faith in God, value family, form amazing communities and generally bring more to the table than they take. BUT they need to get here in an orderly fashion in regulated numbers and in a way that allows us to track them to ensure they follow the rules. Thats what my ancestors did, as did many of yours.

If you are illegal, if you are a criminal particularly, you should start today planning to go back and wait in line.

This isnt black and white like many of you leftists make it out to be. Xenophobes! Racists! Internment camps! Cages! had you done your job the last 4 years you'd still be in power. You didn't. You lost. Now step aside and let the agenda Americans voted for move forward. Get on board or get out of the way in other words.

I'm totally serious. Every tax transgression? Every instance of jay walking?

At some point it's not worth it and pursuit of enforcement outweighs benefit.

Secondly...

Law is necessarily incomplete in that it does not possess the resolution to (correctly) adjudicate every possible permutation of events we might encounter.

The legal landscape is and always will be replete with non enforcement. And it makes sense. (Conditionally)

If it's viewed that the United States is not serious about illegal immigration this country will eventually fold like a house of cards.

Low information voters put him back in the White House.

Oh and Id add, your track record on making predictions is highly suspect these days.

"Harris will absolutely steamroll Trump. Book it."

You are an absolute shill brother. Maybe we need a new self-help group. Democrats Anonymous.
Predicting elections is one thing, predicting market economics is actually quite easy. Even you have heard of supply and demand. If you reduce the supply of workers, the only way to increase the workforce is to raise the price until a new 3% of the labor force is replaced, except your original 97 get the pay raise as well. Quite the conundrum for Trump.

Well Im looking at real wages as the measure. Youve heard of that right? Because I have heard of supply and demand. As in the American people have demanded Trump supply jobs and security.

We ended up with a balanced budget because the Gingrinch House held the growth rate of spending below the growth rate of the economy.
As a share of GDP federal spending was 33% lower than now.
Complete bullshit. Total complete bullshit. All the Gingrich Congress did was maintain for a couple of years the budget framework passed by Clinton and the Democrats in 1993. By the 2nd Clinton term they were blowing the doors off spending, although you can also blame Clinton for that.

High prices and inflation will cease to exist on 1/20/2025.
Oddly enough that is MLK Day.

Bwahahahaha!!! Yes, Gingrich! I mean Newt. The guy who battled Clinton for lower budgets (the shutdowns didn't happen because Newt wanted more spending than Bill) - you remember that, right?

Comparing spending growth before, during, and after Newt.
He was Speaker from 1995 to 1999.
He held the growth rate of government spending below the growth rate of the economy, and the economy boomed and the deficit shrank.
When he was jettisoned spending growth surged.
I was 20, BTW.
What's your excuse for not remembering, or I guess not even knowing, these facts?

Why isn’t Trump working with Congress to have comprehensive immigration reform ready to sign on 1/21/2025?

Give me real facts, post the real numbers, not your percentage of outlays and what the hell ever. Show how the federal budget increased and the percentages (utilitizing inflation adjusted or not) from 1992 onward.

So full of shit.
Willing to make an avatar bet on whether my numbers are real?
Or are you full of shit?

Avatar bet, 1 year duration. @pjhawk Do you believe what you type, or not?

Your chart here isn't actually disputing what I've asserted. Go back to 1992 and also note 99 thru 01. And the deficit reduction bill in 1993 (passed with zero Republican votes) caused a huge increase in receipts which you of course omitted from your chart. And then also note how spending really turbocharged once Republicans gained trifecta control of the government (noting that the Dems did control the Senate briefly after the Jeffords defection in 01 through the 02 elections).

As I said it was when Congressional Republicans and the Clinton White House abandoned the Gramm/Rudman/Hollings spending guidelines in the late 90's that budget discipline broke down and spending exploded.

I deleted my post above and verified that your revenue and outlay numbers above were correct so I apologize for that. But who was in control of the Congress and who was in the White House per the FY 2000 and 2001 budgets? Do you see the point I was making?

Isn’t it funny how all the right wing posters show up at once.its like the bat signal.

Wait. Did you really post a politically induced thread and not expect the right leaning posters to come to the party? Are you really that dumb. Good ****ing grief.

This thread had been up for several hours before all of a sudden they seemed to jump in. More I was alluding to the fact it seems many of the right have many alts and once they become active they jump from one account to another,

@Sexican probably has some good insight.

They’re not legal, they are here on a temporary basis, there’s a difference. Tell the whole story not just half truths.
Being here on temporary protected status is absolutely legal, there is no half truth about it. They can’t remain here forever under that status as it is not a path to permanent residency or citizenship, but they can apply for asylum, get married, or get a visa through employment.

Thank you.
I don't make this stuff up.

Not Newt, which was my point.

Like every other a-hole around here I hate to ever concede a point, but I guess I have to here. OK's, but I'm pretty certain Newt or no Newt that spending discipline was going to break down (as it did) during that period. And the Democrats and Clinton get mega credit for beginning the fiscal discipline via the 93 deficit reduction bill and adherence to Gramm/Rudman/Hollings prior to the Republicans taking over Congress.

Allowing a black market workforce to exist and thrive disrupts the healthy development of normal labor,.. The shut down of illegal immigration will be a primary motivator in forcing Congress to finally act on immigration reform...

You cannot be serious. You libs and your gaslighting never stop. So, let me get this straight, you believe that under Trump's first term...there was a major shortage of migrant workers in this country, whom you aparently think are only able to work the jobs you mentioned.

Hmmm.....I sure don't remember there being any shortage of workers in those jobs prior to this administration. Food prices were outstanding without the 10,000,000+ people Harris/Biden brought in. See, most of those people are living in FREE housing, Getting FREE food, FREE transportation and Prepaid credit cards. Well, this is happening in Blue states anyway.

But, by all means....keep touting an issue that did not exist prior to these millions of people coming in the last 4 years.

What you don't realize is Trumps immigration policies (lack of immigrants coming in) was one of the major players in the Covid labor situation. You had a lack of individuals coming in that created a gap already, and then you added in shock employment drop as well. You have to look at the timing of Trumps strictest policies regarding immigration (started in 2019). The other difference is we are no longer talking about limiting workers coming in. We are 1. stopping immigration 2. Removing immigrants. That is a shock policy and if you don't understand that I really don't know what to say. Difficulties with hiring started really at the beginning of 2020, even before Covid start ramping up (Trumps presidency, several older workers dropping out of the workforce) and culminated in 2021 with some of the Biden policies. Continuing payouts, allowing individuals to not work and live off of stimulus and child tax credits. If you really want to discuss these issues I am more than glad to discuss them.

Also if you look at immigration it was increasing drastically during the Trump time frame, it primarily dropped because of Covid and Trumps immigration policies in June of 2019. The cause and effect was the higher prices in 2020 and 2021. Its a lag factor in employment Tornado.

Its behind the paywall. But Trumps policies started in June of 2019.

It isn't cheaper to eat junk and/or fast food. People are stupid and lazy, that's the problem.

I have made a good meal for our family of four MANY times for $10-$15 that would be $25-$30 for fast food and way more than that to get something else delivered.

The will of America was voted, those are the facts.
The application is called a CBP one app where you can go on as an illegal migrant and apply for status and bypassing the legal process which Kamala Harris opened up.
Not the same as coming over and applying for a green card over 10 years. Another Kamala Harris loophole.
