What if 133 was Seth Gross?

He would have been at 141 last year and keep him at 141 for the same hypothetical...and put Laux as 133. Yes, that very well could be enough. But realize with his scholarship money you probably aren't getting both Warner and Lee

125==Lee 133==Gross 141==Lugo 149==Sorenson 157==Kemerer 165==Marinelli 174==Gunther/Young 184==Downey/Wilke 197==Warner/Wilke Hwt==Stoll I see 6 six finalists, 2 national champs and 10 all-americans. Is that enough for NCAA Camps?

Lugo AA. Really?

Lugo AA. Really?
Lugo finished last season ranked #11 @149 by Flo with 5 seniors graduating above him. He has a 63-18 career record and some quality wins (Sorensen, Chishko, E.Henderson). To say he isn’t an AA contender is rediculous. I would say the only question is if he could handle the cut to 141 as OP has him listed

And I'd add that he's now training in a much stronger room, which will probably better help him maximize his potential.

Grammar police here. Should be "What if 133 were Seth Gross?" Subjunctive case. Often wrong though.

Don't kill me for saying this... But Gross wouldn't be the Gross that he is now had he stayed at Iowa. I'm not sure he would have been nearly as successful for two reasons:

1. This would (maybe) be his first year at 133
2. His "style" wouldn't be the same.

Let's give credit where it's due. Gross is a scrambling, top-riding-and-turning son of a gun. He would not have developed that AJ Schopp ride while here. He certainly wouldn't be as adept at scrambling as he is now. Clark said as much after the match. He became a completely different wrestler when he went to SDSU. Would he be better than Turk/Happel? For sure.

I like where your head was at on this, but you left out the biggest part to me. Incentive and a fresh start. Leaving Iowa and getting a fresh start at SDSU let him leave any demons behind(no matter what they were going to always be there if he stayed) and focus solely on wrestling.

I saw it a while back in R.J. Boudro(left Michigan) at MSU. Whenever he wrestled Roy(had a lot to do with why he left) he beat him. Meredith is another strong example beating Jack(NCState) several times. Now, I know Gross lost to Clark, but who honestly expected him to be Clark's NCAA Finalist opponent when he first left Iowa?

Wondering about the what ifs.
What if the Nits had Spencer @125 with Nick Suriano @133?

You forgot Kem. Who are you replying to anyway? Me? I’m not being smug just busting some balls. I do disagree with him however. I couldn’t see bull, Warner, stoll or lugo reaching the finals this year. In fact, I don’t think Sorenson will reach the finals either just as I predicted last year when Todd Conner put out his overly optimistic predictions.

Clarks win over Gross was one of the best Hawkeye memories to have. I have watched it about 10 times, just doesn't get old. That said, I am happy for Gross' turnaround and success at SDSU. Hawks don't have a shot at 133 this year so, Go Seth, win it all.
