You get that cup and it says "Luscious Dragon" and you lose your sh!t every time!Every damn cheery, peppy, ghey barista out there that always spells my name wrong is Deep State!!!!
@ottumwan in tx must have an entire filing cabinet full of Deep State evidence.Bump for responses from those who believe in the DEEP STATE.
The Deep State gets thrown around an awful lot but specifics are lacking. Help me understand
So people like Elon?Primarily refers to the unelected bureaucracy,.. These are the people who do the governmental grunt work, administration after administration, answering to essentially no one, never getting pushed out, wielding their accumulated power as they see fit,... J. Edgar Hoover could be a poster boy example..
So people like Elon?
In fairness, the coffee makes me pooYou get that cup and it says "Luscious Dragon" and you lose your sh!t every time!

No not at all. He's basically the opposite. Because if a Democrat wins in 2028, Elon would be gone in an instant. Cabinet members, staff members, they are not part of the "deep state".
I think that "deep state" is an overly dramatic and conspiratorial term, but the premise exists.
It is the entrenched bureaucracy of federal employees and offices and federally funded NGOs that due to the sheer size and complexity and inscrutability of the federal government become virtually untouchable and unaccountable. It also has been (of course) painted as Trump-centric, but it isn't necessarily so. It is a threat or obstacle to any president that will try to improve over the status quo and has been for some time.
The absolute pants-wetting regarding USAID coming under the knife shows that you aren't supposed to be able to do that. They aren't supposed to be accountable to anyone, and we've just become accustomed to it.
Here's another little signal...every suggested program or office to be cut or audited is either too big that it's essential and shouldn't be touched OR it's such a tiny percentage of the budget that it doesn't matter and shouldn't be touched. In other words, nothing should be touched.
How are they untouchable and unaccountable? They are required to comply with the laws of congress and the legal executive orders of the president.
Someone please explain to me how these employees who can't seem to be named or even be told what position they occupy are "untouchable and unaccountable" They report to someone who reports to someone and that chain ultimately leads up to a political appointment by the POTUS who is confirmed by the senate. You can't fire civil servants like political appointees but you can fire them, and them ignoring or standing in the way of legal executive orders or appropriate reports to congress is grounds for termination.
To me it all sounds like a easy BS excuse Trump has made for his incompetence and failures. No other president before him blamed the deep state for their problems. So now whenever Trump clearly blows it, his cult doesn't see him as the problem, they just blame the nameless, faceless "deep state".
Quite frankly it's the "stabbed in the back theory" but with career civil servants as opposed to Jews.
Well, Trump and Musk are proving that they are not actually untouchable. And you can see the squealing when they are accountable and touchable. Nobody previously has dared. And also, every one previously has been too afraid to break things. They've been untouchable because they are part of a giant jenga tower that nobody can quite untangle all the dependencies and double dealing. The current administration is willing to break things if that is what happens. I am not endorsing that strategy.
I 100% agree with it being used as an excuse by Trump.
That means it's not a problem. And it's not just a problem for Republicans. Someone above used Hoover as an example, who was undermining Civil Rights efforts of Kennedy and Johnson. And Republicans have used it to their advantage in the past as well.
They are upset because a person with no government job and no security clearance was allowed to just walk into their office and take over their work computers.
If someone from off the street just walked in and took over our accounting office the employees there would be upset too.
There are proper channels for auditing the government agencies there always has been. They broke the proper channels, just walked in and took over.
None of them are pitching a fit about providing reports to congress on their spending or what's going on in their office. No one is insisting that the office/money belongs to them alone. They are upset that a random 25 year old kid was allowed to just walk into their office and take over computers with sensitive information and anyone who objected to this was placed on administrative leave.
OK? What are you asking me to do about it? I literally said I didn't endorse the strategy.
I am ambivalent about it.

Huh, whoda thunk that? Most of us thought it was based on Trump's attempts to bribe the government of Ukraine for his own benefit and overthrow the government on J6 for his own benefit. The things you learn on here 🤣This is a pretty good example for those who genuinely want to know and are open-minded enough to care.
Read the entire article. You'll learn something. Anyone still denying our government has become a bloated corrupt cesspool can't be taken seriously.Huh, whoda thunk that? Yeah I forgot Trump had nothing to do with his own impeachments. Twice. He hates accountability, too bad. Impeached.Read the entire article. You'll learn something. Anyone still denying our government has become a bloated corrupt cesspool can't be taken seriously.
