i just saw that drake advanced due to "uncontested game." What the...:(

Anyone have the skinny on this?

Supposedly, there was another Missouri Valley Conference team that played with a false positive the night before. I'm not sure why the rules changed within a day

UNI sucks. Does anyone really care if they forfeit?

That is not the point. They worked hard and probably sacrificed all year to make it to this point. They deserved better than some liberal city having different or more strict rules than the conference end their season.

Exactly what IowaHawkeye... said here ^^^

Pretty simple really

Highly intelligent response here.

Thanks. The winky face means it was a joke bud.

Edit- Sounds like none of the teams or the conference wanted this to happen. It's a shame. However, Drake has to be feeling slightly okay because a win wouldn't have helped them get in the tournament but a loss would have sealed their fate to the NIT. I hope two teams from Iowa can get in!

Lol UNI basically quit after they went 0-3 in their opening tournament. That team has been ready to be done for months.

You mean the team that lost the preseason MVV player of the year? The team that had two significant contributors become eligible since then (one injury, one transfer)? The team won 10 games including 4 of the last 5 MVC games?

Granted, they struggled but they deserved the chance to see if they could win 3 in a row. Unlikely yes, but again they deserved the chance.

Got some bad news for you....due to the fact that's where the people are most real cities are liberal and have covid rules. Are you saying the bten should bail from Indy? That Des Moines should forfeit future NCAA bids? I don't think rural county fairgrounds would be great hosts for these things, even if there are no inconvenient covid regulations

Were giving medals for winning 10 games now. Do they get one for keeping it within 50 against Loyola too? UNI had enough talent even without Green to finish in the upper half of that conference. Jacobsen with another less than impressive coaching job this year, the atmosphere around the team was extremely negative all season.

Once again; the UNI fans (especially those who traveled to St. Louis) but all fans really and the UNI players & staff (who also traveled to St. Louis I might add) deserved the chance to compete for 3 days to see if they could pull it off.

Let me ask you this; how do you think the Iowa players, fans, staff would react in that situation - or is that only an outrage because we finished in the upper tier of our conference?

Sorry for misinterpreting.

have to disagree on the Drake win not helping though... win the whole thing and it doesn’t matter.

Ehhhh they're still actually fighting for an at large bid, so any and all wins would only be a positive.....can't win if you don't play.

I do feel bad for the fans and non coaching staff who worked to arrange the trip in this case.

Nah I actually know quite a bit here, but tell yourself whatever you want to believe. UNI came very close to opting out of the season in December.

Wow!. Just Wow. Time to move the MVC tourney out of StL, right this minute. What if the city shuts the tourney down? You might see the NCAA go "sorry, we need Duke in instead of Drake."

Move it, now.
I wish the Valley would move it. At least for a few years.
