What perk or benefit does your job have that most don't?

We have sabbatical programs that aren't taboo to actually utilize. I took 4 weeks off unpaid this Spring, combined with 2 weeks paid time off to take a 6 week vacation. There are also 3-4 month sabbatical programs at I believe 1/3 pay as long as you're doing an approved activity, which I read to believe some type of volunteer program or something.

There are others, but I consider this one to be fairly unique outside of higher academia or at least unique for someone who is 25 and new into their career.

I get to help my wife's grandmother every time she has the slightest computer problem. Try to beat that!!

In reality, our Christmas parties are usually pretty fun. Block of rooms at a discounted price at a local casino. Company rents out a grand master suite and provides a bunch of top shelf booze. Then they feed us a pretty good dinner and give giveaway a bunch of high end electronic gadgets to us through a drawing. After that people kind of go their separate ways. Some head back up to the grand master suite so they can continue boozing, some gamble, visit, etc. I've worked for this company for almost 10 years now and their Christmas party is well worth the other bullshit I have to put up with. Overall just a great company to work for and I'm glad I've spend a majority of my IT career here with them.

  1. My employer pays an additional 10% of my salary into a retirement account

He was a labor leader.

Can fly on almost on any airline in the world for basically free.

Unlimited sick time up to a week straight per instance.

My company still has a pension (defined benefit) plan in addition to a 401k.

If I take less than a day off, I typically don't get whacked for time off.
I get a new Mac pretty regularly.
I do not have Holiday's off without taking PTO, but the first compensates that pretty well.
IPERS is pretty sweet.
We have a cafeteria and I pay 1/2 price for my food and beverages.

My ex has always had 1+ weeks off at Christmas, plus significant other holidays.

I get flexibility to make my own schedule, and can eat meals and spend evenings with my kids/wife.

I get paid on the first day of each month for that month
.
1 month for vacation time and unlimited paid sick leave
.
All of pension plan and health care premiums are
paid in full by them.

I have final approval on all my staff that I hire.

They pay for my wife and I to go to the Caribbean for 6 days each winter. All expenses paid. This year we are going to the El Conquistador in Puerto Rico. Also not working Fridays.

I get to go for two any time I want. I also can decide which jokes to start with. Two good perks, IMO. Separate jobs of course.

No offer for ya boy?

cesar chavez was hadly a "labor leader", look at this thread, it's more about how much everyone is not working, not doing labor!!

Our culture truly is a 40 -45 work week max, unless there is a major issue. We want people out the door at 4, or 5 depending on their start time. That shouldn't really be a benefit, but anymore, it's uncommon.

That's a good thing. I actually worked as a consultant at a few places that actually turned off the lights at 6 to discourage anyone from working later than that.
