Gunther and Young will alternate and probably 50-50 if Stickley goes, however, if I had to guess I would say he goes. Could be alternating at 65 as well.

So Stickley still has the shirt on, something that I am missing on is the fact that he wore the Iowa singlet at the Luther open. ?? I was under the impression that you can not represent the university in that way while redshirting?

It appears Stickley wrestled attached at the Luther open so the shirt has been burned. If so he will be at 125 for all three matches. Still no Bull? If would figure Young will be given one match out of the three this Friday.

I’m not sure that is the case as he didn’t wear an Iowa singlet. That is usually indicative of unattached but track did show him as attached.

Regardless, I am as excited about Iowa City duals as any year in recent history because it will be good to see some of the new guys against D1 competition.

Redshirt apparently pulled same deal as Burak a few years ago

He did in the finals against Perez

I'm sure Stick's input has been taken into account on if he should redshirt or not. He took the grey shirt last year so not exactly a true freshman. He would not pull it if he did not want to and he can always do it another year.

Agree just thought with them leaning hard on pulling Lee its a year where he wont have a chance to qualify for Ncaa

Hey I get it but if Lee decides to wrestle after Midlands then it is a wasted year of eligibility for Stickley when he could RS this year and build his body to a full size 133 and make a run for that spot next year. Seems like a waste to me to pull his shirt for 6 matches that really don't mean anything if he's gonna lose the spot mid season. I know people don't like the situation but as of now Stickley and Glynn are the future at 133.

No guarantee he wrestles next year at 133. If i’m him I want to be out there wrestling as a starter in front of the Hawkeye fans in Carver Arena as often and as soon as possible. Plus has not been decided yet if Spencer will even wrestle this year. If he does will he go every time or take a few matches off.

Plus, who is to say he could not challenge for the 133 spot this year. If there ever was a guy to add 8 pounds in a hurry, the "Stick" could

Quite sure the opportunity to redshirt in the next three years will present itself if needed. I rather he get the experience needed in the upcoming matches. Reading between the lines but SLee shirt likely to remain on. ... I think it would have been likely to come off if he hadn’t been coming off injury, but we will see. Makes more sense to redshirt Stickley if you are leaning toward pulling Lee’s shirt. Finally maybe this is what Stickley wants. I’m healthy, I’ve earned it as if now, and I want to go. Hard to turn down a gray shirt freshman with those thoughts.

The guys getting 1 match you think it's against a D1? If there gonna give them 1 match I hope it's against Buffalo or ND st
I would imagine so. I think last year it went every other match. Meaning someone didn’t wrestle back to back. So I would assume the 2 matchers will get Iowa Central and NDSU and the 1 matchers get Buffalo. Of course individual matchups could come into play as well.

But I’m just a message board poster. I don’t have any inside info.

Dont think that will be happening.
Is the kid made of glass? I am driving a long way for this one, I expect Tom to roll out the Bull and Lee, I would be okay if he holds Warner back, but he should throw him in for good measure. Just based on the I-80 tolls alone, TNT owe me this.

In all seriousness, I would be a little concerned if the Bull is not out there on Friday. He has missed a lot of time with a lot of little injuries. For a RS F I am worried that he does not have a lot of competitive mat time to build off of going in to his first real season.

Of course let’s wrestle him multiple times Friday in matches that mean nothing and take a chance of him being hurt again and out for the year.

I believe he certed 165

I meant allowable weight loss per day/week from where he is now - and as mentioned, if the Bull is only temporarily out and Young is planning on starting this year at 174, he’s not going to wrestle at some non important meet at 165.

He wrestled an open, Midlands, UWW Junior Open and Trials. Besides an open or two, what else could he do?

I think you will see him this weekend but that’s just a guess.

You take that chance any time you throw a singlet on and wrestle against a live body. Or leaving your house. Marinelli said he was 100% healthy in his interview posted here, so he's only healthy in his own mind?
