What's something you have that you bet other HROT members don't?

Posters will probably make fun of me, but I have a small 15" TV in my bathroom as well as laundry room. I like being able to watch the news/weather in the morning when I'm getting ready especially when I was working. The TV in the laundry room makes doing laundry a little less boring.

What about you?
I have my over the air TV signals converted to Fiber optics. I bet I'm one of 4 houses in the US with that.

I own a Iowa Hawkeye "candy jar" that I have filled with Mallard curls. I would be suprised if any of you have that and if you do hit me up.

I've got a Folgers can about half full of pheasant tails, wish I would have always saved them.

I don't do much duck hunting these days, but I used to have lots of mallard curlies. I would cut strips of corrugate from standard cardboard boxes and then slip the curlies into the open end of the corrugate. I would mark the face of the cardboard with a sharpie so I knew which year I got them and then save them this way over time. Did pretty much the same thing with rooster tails.

Have a nazi armband from ww2. My grandmother's brother was in some kind of intel unit and brought all sorts of weird loot home. My cousin got a nazi flag. Both of us arent really sure what to do with them. When we got them we both were like.

.

There’s a nice market for that kind of stuff if you can find a buyer

I like that idea.

When I was growing up my uncle had an old spittoon he kept all the pheasant feathers in. I just remember thinking I could never have that many, I think it always made me want to have that large vessel aspect.

Now, more importantly:

What made you hang up the waders? Don't go quietly into the night brother.

how do you know its provenance?
My late Mother in Law worked for a man who owned the house in the 60’s/70’s. Second homes back then in the area often sold furnished and he let her take a few pieces from the house. My sisters in law took a few of the wicker pieces for their bedrooms and they still have those too.
He also had several of the Oriental rugs that were in the house but at the time we were newlyweds and didn’t have space to use them. They would be worth a fortune now.
He had moved them out of the house and stored them upstairs in his office building on 8th Street (Calle Ocho) when a hurricane was threatening and they stayed up there for years.
The home was torn down a couple of years ago which was a shame.

My Dad brought home one of each of those too. We (my siblings and I) used to take it to school for our History classes growing up but now they are sealed up and packed away because if would cause a huge incident if our grandkids tried to bring it to show and tell.

A dog that is so dumb that I sometimes wonder how he remembers to breathe? He's currently barking at the dog on tv.

How often do you scoop his poop?

I have two of the new style digital auto telescopes that create their own wifi signal and you operate them by smartphone or tablet. They do not have eyepieces but instead you view the images on your connected devices.

Duck hunting is probably still my favorite hunting, but short story, I couldn't stand the idiots out on the public marshes, etc. So I got more into archery deer hunting where I could actually enjoy the hunt, sans numbskulls downwinding you, sky busting, etc.

Nowadays, and for the last 20+ years, I hunt almost exclusively at my own farm...away from the interferences.

Never. We have almost 6 acres and he's a little yorkie mix. It's barely there. LOL!

I have a full John Deere toy set from when I was a little kid - tractor, plow, harrow, and wagon, with the box in which it came. Still in very good condition - no dings, dents, rust...only thing keeping it from an excellent grade is that somewhere through the years the rubber exhaust pipe got lost. While fairly rare to have all four parts and the original box, there might be others who have something similar.

Most unique thing I have is a Santa ornament that is probably about 100 years old. When my parents got married, mom's parents gave them a box of ragged old used Christmas ornaments for their first Christmas tree; it was included in that. When I eventually was born, for some reason I fell in love with that ornament as a little kid, and it became tradition for it to be the first ornament on the tree (I was the baby of the family, so got my way). When I got married, the ornament was one of my gifts when it came time to decorate my first tree. It's made of plastic, most of the paint is gone; it definitely looks its' age but still gets the prime spot on the tree & will as long as I live.
