What's the latest report on DeSanto? Is he done for the year?

"He said stay off the boards. It’s not a catastrophe."

If you ask me what this statement means to me is to expect AD back, don't worry. Which leads me to the fact of why burn CS redshirt. Lastly, if you are worried about what will be said here just EXPLAIN.

He's a great coach. He's a great coach. He's a great coach. It is situations like this that I have to keep reminding myself that. 😉 Not that he isn't because he definitely is. .....but to try to get myself to just deal with times like this when he drives us absolutely crazy & I can't come up with reasons why it makes sense to not EXPLAIN.

RBY is done after this year with a full year of eligibility. Not everybody wants, or can afford, to spend 6 years in college. Whatever the case with ADS, the decision to wrestle was a combo of Tom and Schriever.

This has to be the most injuries for an Iowa team in a long long time. Is PS having any of these issues?

So is Schriever a true freshman like Ayala? Or is this his second year? If it’s the latter then I don’t really see the problem with him wrestling. Other than wrestling coaches not explaining anything is annoying af.

It’s his 2nd year in the program.

I get Desanto not wrestling. It happens. But that's burying the lead.

The only other thing I can think of is if the B1G is going to require the vax. This might affect some guys.
This is an interesting thought. If they require Athletes to get the "vax" and some are against it, how does this play out? Do those kids get hosed, do they get a year back? Very screwed up times we live in!

Regardless, to pull a shirt of one of your teams top young kids would only make sense if this is already known. Also why would this be an issue at the end of the year and not now? Why would B1Gs noy have this requirement in effect now?

With DeSanto having a redshirt year left to burn, I have to believe he may be using it, just my guess based on him not looking right in his last match.

Here is what google pulled up for me about medical redshirts:

Medical Hardship Requirements:

To be eligible for a medical hardship waiver, a student-athlete has to meet the following criteria:

* The student-athlete must suffer the injury during one of their four seasons of college competition or during the senior year of high school.

* The injury must be incapacitating. That means it must be a season-ending injury.

* The injury must occur prior to the start of the second half of
the season.

* The student-athlete must not have competed in more than 30% of the season or three contests, whichever is greater.

* All of these must be proven with documentation. That means medical documentation to prove the injury and
that it was season-ending and participation information to show that the student-athlete did not play in too many contests.

WITH THAT SAID:

I posted this on twitter last night asking what the 2nd half of the season is and someone tweeted this to me in response:

“Second half of the season is different for every team - it is the 2nd half of each team’s individual schedule. If you have 16 dates, it would be your 9th contest. In Iowa’s case, last night’s dual was the start of their 2nd half.”

So I am guessing it COULD be a medical redshirt season for Desanto.

Wouldn’t he still be over the 30% mark, though?

I would assume so… how many was he “out” of besides the Purdue dual? I really don’t know…
It really is too bad there aren't any websites where you could go to look this kinda stuff up on.

Wish someone here in the Cesspool would take it upon themselves to provide this service.

Oh Well...................

DeSanto has already competed in over 30% of the season and more than 3 contests so I don't think he qualifies for a medical redshirt. My GUESS is that he is dinged up and getting healthy for what is important. While he rests, Schriever goes and gets some much needed experience in the Hawkeye lineup. Schriever will still be able to redshirt in the future if need be and if not he will have 3 years to earn the opportunity to be the man and compete for a national title. Nothing is ever gaurenteed... injuries happen, new recruits come in and earn spots. Seize the opportunity when it is presented. Go Hawks!

So Schreiver is a "redshirt freshman" now which we all agree. If I read the NCAA website rules correctly
because his first year of admission regardless of if he competed or not was 2020-2021 he qualifies
for the "free Covid year". So kinda semantics here regarding "pulling his shirt". I'm thinking
he still has 4 years of competition coming AFTER this season even IF he wrestles all year.
Of course that's asking him to run the race for a full 6 years. I could be reading it wrong but I certainly
trust the Brands know exactly all the ins and outs of Covid/redshirt rules and Cullan himself is involved in the
decision making so no reason to be overly anxious on this.

No.

And stop hitting “return” in the middle of sentences.

That isn't how redshirts work. Assad is the only starter who could still take a redshirt year (but that can't be this season).

I guess Ayala is technically our starter now at 125, so he could also take a redshirt in the future.

Well, if we add a few Last Chance Opens to the schedule than maybe we can get DeSanto to < 30% of the competitions
