The NCAA doesn’t even know how this season will play out or how they will handle whatever does occur. Tom certainly doesn’t know anything more than we do. The only things he knows that we don’t know are a)what the ADS status is, and b) why he pulled the shirt.
That seems to make sense on its face, allow teams to put in a back up without losing a red shirt if the starter has covid… But it seems odd that Tom would know something that other coaches don’t seem to know.
Evidence to support this being a good idea: last night Michigan wrestled a 141 at 165 because Cam Amine tested positive. It sure seems like allowing a freshman to have a match or two without losing a redshirt is a better idea than having kids wrestle up 25 pounds.
That would make sense as a way to handle things, but only if it were announced in advance with all of the specifics laid out. It strains credulity to think the NCAA has a secret plan to announce something like that ex-post facto.
In 19/20 they pulled Assad’s shirt when there was no discernible difference between he and Wilcke, and little reason to believe he would score meaningful points at Nats. They are not infallible on this subject.
@smalls103 Tweeted a memo was going out to all D1 coaches that the 15 match minimum for RPI would not be reduced for this year.
If true, then it seems pulling CS redshirt could be a hedge against ADS being unable to compete come tournament time. Iowa and CS could benefit from another 133 B1G auto-qualifying spot.

There could be meetings and leaks between coaches. Some will know sooner than others but maybe only by a few days, would be my guess.

Here's a possiblity... the season continues and his brother still keeps his redshirt for reasons related to Covid. Just a guess, but that thought relieves him.

But if the dude is reading, NO, the thought of Nationals being canceled does NOT relieve me and obviously that’s how it comes off, otherwise two people wouldn’t have taken it that way. So my bad on the way I worded it. In fact, that thought hadn’t even crossed my mind until I read it on here.

Coaches are never infallible (look at the heat King KF is taking from some today). This situation is a head-scratcher and Tom is blaming the internet...so yeah, I'm curious wth is going on.

Would pretty much equate to honoring Spencer's all in everyone return year next year but absent Young and Kemerer. That seems worse than had all been healthy this year.

Yes. But I figured that's where PK slots in, and it seems like the conventional wisdom is there is more uncertainty drop-off wise for 157 and 174.
