MAGAs are very dump individuals and should be forced to face down nine rifle barrels pointed right at their faces.
What's a "Dump" individual?

Both sides lololololol.I think the "self reflection" needs to be broader than just MAGA.
That, too. Kudos for finding the taipoWhat's a "Dump" individual?
It's called social media. You have any empirical evidence to support this?
That isn't how they look at me, because my political beliefs are not my daily identity and worn on my sleeve. MAGA is their identity and Trump is their warrior. MAGA hats, vehicle decals, yard signs, shirts, flags, rampant social media posts/shares, and even where I live, boat parades — none of this is a part of my life or something I take part in, but it's every day for them. And that is the same way they look at you. So how do we fix it? I do not believe there is 'no coming back'.

This.MAGA has ****ed things up so bad it’ll take a generation to maybe fix things. Hopefully the under 30s figure it out.
It's a new ingredient that skews peoples perceptions on this subject. I think it's a pretty reasonable assumption.Since social media started in 2005 or so how is that an effective gauge of the last 150+ years
I agree that the entire approach to politcs needs to be changed. It can't be a zero-sum game where the opponent is always portrayed as an existential threat that could end the "American Experiment."I think the "self reflection" needs to be broader than just MAGA.
Agree. I just think the "lefts" and the media reaction to him hasn't been healthy.I agree that the entire approach to politcs needs to be changed. It can't be a zero-sum game where the opponent is always portrayed as an existential threat that could end the "American Experiment."
The rhetoric must be improved and needs to return to more civility and respect.
That said, no one has done more to put the level of discourse into the gutter than Trump and MAGA. Just from his ridiculous and immature propensity to give his opponents middle-school bully level nicknames like "Lil' Marco" "Sleep Joe" etc. to his utilization of fascist like language "vermin" "enemy within" "garbage can country" "shithole countries" etc. it is clear one "side" has done far more to bring us to where we are now than the other.
Trump called Jan. 6 a "day of love," and millions of his followers concur with that assessment. If you can watch the videos and images from that and genuinely come to that conclusion, there's simply no hope for you.I'd like to be optimistic but after 1/6 the GOP started talking about the people who committed that riot as "political prisoners".
They are too far into the cult. They won't quit.

How anyone can type that much bullshit at one time is awe-inspiring.LOL this post is such bullshit. Everyone on the left will act 100% the same if it was DeSantis, or Abbot or Kemp from Georgia, or Youngkin.
It will always be all fascism all the time. Racism all the time.
Centrist and center-right have been purged from newsrooms and most elite institutions (outside of specifically rightest outlets). What is left in these positions know nothing other than extreme progressivism and power.
Of course, rightest institutions are the same.
The only way for what the OP calls for was to happen were for nominally objective organizations to commit to a diversity of viewpoint in newsrooms and classrooms and boards. If that doesn't happen, it will never be otherwise. And they know it I believe...there are rumblings of some of these institutions trying to recapture more balance, but its gone so far it will be incredibly painful, and I think they will give up. Few institutions have an iron hand like Jeff Bezos to dictate change.
And to be clear, I don't mean institutions have to perfectly politically balanced. All my life the media leans left, academia leans left. It was counteracted by corporate America generally leaning right. That's all fine, because within those institutions, you still had a significant diversity. There were conservatives on campuses, there were right leaning journalists in newsrooms. Until you have some representation and respect for other viewpoints in institutions, this will not get better.
Because that's what we're really talking about...people aren't really fighting each other in the street. This is polarization of fully siloed partisan institutions.

30 million people on each side are captain pisspants about the election. The other 240 million just want to go about their daily lives.
I was born in 1967 but from what I've read I'd have to agree with you.I would agree with that over the last 20 years. Before that, not so much. I think those of us who were alive in the mid to late 60's would put that right up there, or above, with today's climate.
How anyone can type that much bullshit at one time is awe-inspiring.
You should apply for a columnist job at Daily Caller dude.
Those on the right aren't wrong that we do have to allow for them to have their views... but here is the thing. Aside from some name calling (which they also participate in) the left does let them have their views. No one is trying to pass laws banning people from attending church, no one is forcing them to have an abortion or have a gay marriage or prevent them from reading the Bible or any other book they want to read.
I do see laws being passed the other way though. The right is scared their way of life may not be the predominant way to live life anymore and that freaks them out so they are trying to pass laws to force people to. That's not ok. That's not what America is about. You can hate those people go ahead I feel you should have the right to even though I don't understand it. What you don't have the right to do is pass laws preventing people from experiencing life how they want to and forcing your views on them. Until that stops we will continue to have division. If the right stops those efforts and just goes on hating and letting people live how they see fit then we will be able to coexist and live peacefully.
See, that is just not true. That is totally ignorant, and you have to take the blinders off. I mean this with love.
The left absolutely wants to pass laws that your kid can transition without your permission or knowledge. They absolutely want to pass laws about whether you can own certain guns, whether you can own a gas lawnmower, whether you can have a job without getting vaccinated. They absolutely want Catholic institutions to supply and pay for abortions.
They also support policies that have a MASSIVE downstream affect on people, in terms of immigration and law enforcement. There are millions of people and communities whose lives have been significantly affected by the lax approach to the border for example.
The first step in getting to some common ground is to just try to see the other side for once. But because you BELIEVE in all those restrictions and effects on people...they don't count.
They wouldn't ask because my political beliefs are not my daily identity and worn on my sleeve. MAGA is their identity and Trump is their warrior. MAGA hats, vehicle decals, yard signs, shirts, flags, rampant social media posts/shares, and even where I live, boat parades — none of this is a part of my life or something I take part in, but it's every day for them.Have you asked them how they feel about your political beliefs?
Nope.Agree. I just think the "lefts" and the media reaction to him hasn't been healthy.
I don't think that immediately changes when he goes away. Just transfers to the next bogeyman on the right.

Nope.
No one called Mitt Romney an American fascist. Out of touch? Elitist? Yes.
Trump has been deemed uniquely vile and dangerous because he IS uniquely vile and dangerous.

Imagine looking back at all of the horrible behavior and incendiary language Trump has spewed in the past decade, January 6, and the election denialism, etc. ... and your takeaway is that the left/media's reaction to Trump is "unhealthy."Nope.

I have no clue what you’re trying to say, but then again, neither do you.Handle what, 17 of the week already?
C'mon man, I told you yesterday to pace yourself! We have 5 days to go.
You have any empirical evidence to support this?
Why doesn't everyone just admit, the hate is never going away and this will all end in bloodshed one way or the other. Neither side is going to budge, so it doesn't matter who throws the first punch. The left hates everything the right stands for and the right hates everything the left stands for. There is no more common ground, there is no bridge to rebuild, it's over.
When you go this far, it basically turns into a scenario where only the strong survive. So, pretty much like the entire history of mankind?
