you can’t always get what you want!
Men’s and women’s programs BOTH coming off classic ass-kickings...both “on the road” and both against teams similar to them in records and in the standings...

The men have a tough one tonight, on the road...and the women have tough one, on the road coming up this weekend. Both teams need to have greatly improved performances to his any chance. So here’s to better performances....and short memories!
Go Hawks!

Women have a tough game against the conference champs, but it is in sold out Carver.

Fran not adding any pieces that would help team in the portal this summer was low morale for me. Losing to Wiscy, E. Ill, Nebraska and Penn St in 4 of 5 games to start the bten 0-3 was low morale. What's going on now is pretty nice by comparison. If they find a way to piss away this NCAA berth we can talk low morale but a win tonight and I'm feeling pretty good about things

Why the bad shooting? Was it just being jittery because of the big games, were they rushing too fast ( thought the men had a lot of open shots to take a split second more to get their feet and body in better position to launch their shot), was it the ball and the depth perception, the players maybe know and can fix it.

For both the last two games if the men and women make just 5-6 treys out of their many attempts they are in the games throughout and then they can make better possessions late to be in the game.

Also, have to get tougher on defense and the boards as every possession is crucial.

Well for anyone who was around for the Lickliter years tough to beat that.

With very few exceptions the men have shot poorly on the road all year. Whether it's a different ball or just a different court, their 45% EFG percentage on the road ranks them in the 320 range in the country so it's not like that game was a total outlier. Their 28% road 3pt% is close to dead last. For a team that relies on offense that won't win you too many games.

This is Iowa sports in general. L L (everyone's pissed) W L W W W (everyone gets excited) L L W (everyone's pissed again) L W. (Meh, intrigued about next year)

Fran lost out on recruits last year because of lack of NIL money. That won't be a problem this year. If he wifs again this year on a Big man, then we can start to worry.

The women are at home against Indiana. Will still be tough.

The women got an 'ass-kicking' on the road from a top-10 team whose ass Iowa had previously kicked. That was not unexpected. Maybe the extreme margin, but I was expecting at least at 10 point loss. After that, what does it matter. Win on Saturday with the national attention and all is good again.

Women’s game is on Sunday.

Your premise is erroneous. I think most fans are very high on the women's program and, having been around here a long time, fans are more excited about the men's program than they were the last several years under Alford and all of Lick. But keep up with your "woe-is-me I've got a vendetta against Fran" mantra. If you can't appreciate winning a BTT last year, having a NPOY 2 years ago and All American for 3 consecutive years, consistent top half finishes in the Big with NCAA appearances every year then you probably shouldn't be an Iowa fan. In fact, you probably aren't an Iowa fan.

I'm not down on either team. The men's team has already out performed my expectations after how poorly we started. Making the tournament and getting a win would be fantastic.

The women had an awful, awful night. They will still be in the top 10. Will still have a chance to win the BTT. Can beat Indiana. That beat down was possibly a blessing in disguise. We have to find new ways to get Czanano the ball. We can't just depend on hitting 3s.

I try to not let my mood be overly affected by college basketball. Xanax should be prescribed for half of this board after any loss.
I'm learning in my advancing age.

When it becomes obvious that a L is happening, I change the channel and move on with my day/night. Especially with a game like tonight, an 8+p CST start and having to work tomorrow, I'll change it if I think its become apparent that Iowa is not going to win or at least have a chance to win at the buzzer.

Easier to bleed off the negative energy if don't stick around when know the outcome.

I simply take sports for recreational value. I may get a little pissy during the game but once it's over - I'm over it. Kind of disgusting hearing how abuse goes up after a loss.

The title you gave your thread is absolutely ridiculous! Prior to the NW game, the Iowa men were one of the hottest teams in the league, having won 8 of 11 if memory serves me. They just happened to run into an even hotter team at their place, a team we'd beaten badly earlier and had beaten by a ton in the BTT last year. NW was highly motivated. Get a grip.

Wisconsin has lost three of the last four at home, so they aren't their usual home warriors. Besides, we owe them for that loss at Carver and their players reactions after the game. Kris needs to come out and be the best Kris he can and the rest of the roster needs to start stepping up EVERY game and not just put up highlights here and there.

Lol, wat. I can think of roughly nine trillion times over the past decade where "morale" has been lower

The women are weak and slow defensively. The top teams are head and shoulders better. The men are undersized and have no shot blocker, intimidator of their own. Having to double the post leads to wide open threes. Maybe Chris has hit a wall playing 38 minutes/game, I hope not but Sandy remains the key if we can get him hot again. Perkins is stepping up and Ulis too. I don't think Patrick is going to be much of a factor anymore, unfortunately...

Thanks for the info. And that is another reason to get as many offensive rebounds and turnovers as possible as you can make maybe 40% of those extra chances into points. And every two good defensive stop is like making a bucket on offense. I sure hope the players know this

Get off your pedestal on who can be a fan. Some of us remember the great years,

In the running for dumbest post of the month. And it’s Kris, dumb ass.

Agree about PM. It is unfortunate. No flow when he is in game. I am sure he will have a good game sometime and the told you so posters will be out. Really wish he would have a good game.

Losing on the road in the B10 is not an Iowa thing. It is common for most teams in the B10.

Are you talking about team morale or fan morale.
I think the teams morale is probably pretty good.
The fans morale????

Misses really weren't even close. Wisconsin may have bent rims and cracked backboards after tonight.
