I would say it would be Isaiah Martinez or Alex Dieringer. Tough to pick between those two. Could someone sneak in there like Isaiah Martinez did last year?

I agree, Martinez was phenomenal last year, but at this point, I'm voting for Dieringer every time. I'm still amazed at the success that Gwiz has been having though.

Dieringer would be my pick as well, by an eyelash over the undefeated Freshman Champ Martinez.

Dieringer and its not close IMO.

Martinez, Gwiz, Dean, Tomasello, Brewer should all get some mentions as well

Bo Jordan, Megaludis, Garrett, Retherford, Nolf, Tsirtsis, Sorenson, McIntosh, Coon will all be close to the top of the rankings, but a step below

My dark horse for this year is Epperly, if you can call him that. Collica and Marstellar (if healthy) could make some noise too

It's hard not to say Dieringer at this point but I really think Clark is going to separate himself from the group this year and be in the discussion for this.

Gilman has beaten Tomasello and Garrett, and only lost to Tomasello once. He should be in any discussion those two guys are in. Same goes for Megaludis, IMO. I think Gilman has as good a chance as anyone to win 125.

Clark placed higher than Sorensen, making the finals, and I think he'll be right there with Brewer this year and may surpass him. He should be in any discussion involving Sorensen and Brewer.

I'd say Dieringer and I do not think it is all that close. Is Martinez moving up? If so, he may end up third at that weight if Jordan stays down.

This. I thought that was common knowledge. Martinez's only close matches were with James Green who's wrestling in Vegas next week- he WOULD NOT be 3rd at 165 unless my eyes are lying to me.

You see him beating BoJo? Martinez has crazy strength for 57 but BoJo is an absolute monster at 65. While there aren't too many guys around who could out horse IMAR, BoJo is the exception. My one prediction for that match up is neither guy picks bottom.

Dieringer

Martinez

Everyone else mentioned

...actually at this point nobody else should even be mentioned at this point based on what I saw in St. Louis last year. Those two were the best wrestlers by a large margin and IMO nobody was as impressive as Dieringer, including Martinez.

Definately Dieringer. To me he looks like the next Les Gutches.

Wait till we have Burroughs, Dake, DT, Dieringer, and Martinez all competing for one freestyle spot. WOW!

What on earth would make you think Martinez is going to 165? He didn't look like a big 157 last year and there has been no speculation regarding him making this move. I don't understand why we are even discussing something that isn't going to happen.

My recollection is that Martinez had a lot of trouble making weight last year, which is why there is speculation he might move up.

Not that I put much stock in these things, but you may want to check out his twitter handle.

1. Dieringer is definitely at the top

2A. IMart is in the Conversation

You will not like this but 2b. is Retherford. I predict He will not lose this year!! I am a Homer and I could be Wrong but He beat Steiber as a True freshman, has jacked himself up in his redshirt Season, and has always been a pace pusher with a great Tank.

P.S. In my opinion you guys can have as many Lee threads as you would like. I like coming to this board because it is the most active I visit. Sometimes a few of you say weird things that could be considered paranoia (all fanbases have some bad posting moments) but it is fun to discuss stuff, even crazy stuff...lol we should never stifle wrestling talk!!!!!

No way to know for sure unless they wrestled, but Martinez's hips and "pop" seemed like the best in the tournament. He doesn't seem lik a guy you'd want to try and horse, kind of fearless.

Last year's Most Dominant Wrestler Award suggests it'll be a 3-horse race, though I'm not considering any returning redshirts. Dieringer @ 4.57, Gwiz @ 4.45, and Martinez @ 4.35 are the top returning guys, and those numbers are close. The next highest returning wrestler is Bo Jordan @ 3.79.

Same twitter handle he had all last season and during redshirt. Probably thought he'd be at 165 and never bothered to change it after settling in at 157.

Retherford is a good secondary pick. A lot of his shininess gets away from us because Pico has handled him. Obviously there will be no Picos in college this year, so yeah, Retherford is up there.

1. Dieringer

2. IMart

3. Brewer: If he stays healthy should dominate majority of opponents and advance to finals again.

I think by the end of the year Zain Retherferd will be in the discussion. I hope not but he looks like he really improved in the last year.
