Why are we being lectured by a guy with $400 billion

I'm sure he'll only trim the fat and leave the programs and agencies that actually benefit regular people alone 🙄🙄🙄
It's amazing how people who have made "The only people you need to fear are people who say they are with the government and they're here to help" a foundational belief in their personality are just willing to give this guy almost complete control with no questions asked.

How is anyone this clueless?

Who wants to tell him how many unelected bureaucrats there are in Washington DC?

Good God man.
Talk about clueless. You mean people who actually do the work? Those people? How does being "unelected" make them a problem? You use the term bureaucrat as a pejorative without even knowing what it means. Fire all of them and then bitch and moan when your SS check doesn't arrive.

There is little doubt that there is fat within the ranks of government. There is fat in every large organization, but don't act like the problem in the federal government is people who actually work for a living. It's more likely the elected officials that you voted for.

There's a lot of fat to cut in the Federal Government.
I think we all agree on that. But Musk has a reputation of doing that destructively and callously.

I'm very curious to see what his recommendations are, and which will be put into effect. He's bright and undeniably successful, after all, so I expect some of them to make sense. But I also expect net harm.

This guy, (Musk), will have control of nothing...
Not on paper at least but if you've ever paid even the slightest bit of attention to how the guy who will be in charge operates, you don't see how someone with unlimited money having direct access to that person makes people nervous?

People are supposed to be nervous,.. That's the point.

Bc we have a spending problem and democrats have made said problem much, much worse. Plus he's smarter than you (by a lot).
The GOP wars and their 2008 economic crisis (under Bush) plus their massive tax cuts for the rich and their botching of the COVID response (under Trump) are the main causes - but, sure, the Dems own a share of the blame.

It's hard to understand why Americans reliably put the worst offenders back in office once things start getting better under Dems.

It must be frustrating for Dems to always have to spend most of their terms in office cleaning up after GOP disasters.

Bush was a bad president and cheney was running the show. I was shocked when your ilk celebrated the cheney endorsements given how awful they are as people. Let's not pretend that the democrat party has done any clean up in the last two decades, though. Unless you consider shitting on dirty floors to be "clean up". I know Gavin Newsom does, not sure about you. The democrat party is a cancer though.

Because too many government employees are lazy freeloaders.
Some truth to that.

But think about it. How many people actually make things or provide valuable services?

We've become a service economy. If by "service" we meant lots of people in teaching or health care or firefighting or even tellers at grocery stores or banks, that would be fine. But most of them are influencers or entertainers or in PR firms or think tanks. What good are they contributing to America? How does the money from farmers and makers and such pay for all these free-loaders.

I'm not saying that who design advertising or deny insurance claims don't work hard. Many do. Nor am I saying they should be barred from doing those things. But look at the wage disparities vs what they produce of value.

I think you're missing his point - which I took to be that Musk bought his way to influence.

But maybe I'm missing yours? Was it that he's not the only one?

Does it matter to you that he's maybe the hugest briber in US history?

Is it any different than Nancy Pelosi talking about the poor/middle class not being able to pay bills, etc.?

Or the Clintons?

Or the Obamas?

They are all MULTI millionaires. We are talking about HUNDREDS of millions.

Do you mean, like two political insiders, like say, Simpson and Bowles who come up with a plan and the president who appointed them just completely ignores all of their hard fought and researched ideas? Would you prefer that unsuccessful model?

WTF revisionist bullsh!t is this?

I bet NASA is a much bigger sucker on the federal teat.
Well considering it's called the National Aeronautics & Space Agency, yeah, it gets federal money. It does that because there is no profit in private companies to do what they do. Notice how once it was possible to make money doing some of the things it does it started pushing those things out to be privatized. Like launching stuff into space (Thanks Obama!). But no company is going to spend $1.5 billion just to send a satellite out to Neptune to find out information about Neptune. NASA will, though, and they might find something valuable by doing it. Which private companies can then later exploit. But it's too expensive for a private company to risk a mission "just to check". If the mission failed that would kill their business and the chances of failure are far higher than success.

Get a job and stay out of dirty bathhouses. A billionaire didn’t cause your problems. It’s his money not yours. Just because someone is a billionaire doesn’t mean they are a awful person.
He just used my money to make himself a billionaire, but go ahead and lick his asshole, although I doubt he would share an ice cold sprite with you.

NASA is bloated with waste and inefficiency. Even the little video they have you watch at Kennedy Space Center, lol, they were like 2.5 years longer than anticipated.

And this is part of the problem,.. We can no longer afford things like this.

Let's see how it plays out.

My point is that Musk is the epitome of excess. Everything about him is more more more. Seems like the exact wrong guy for the job.
He built SpaceX and put satellites in orbit for a fraction of what it would have cost NASA. He fired 80% of the staff at Twitter and it’s still doing fine. Even if it’s a scam, what the Boring Company did under Las Vegas would have cost the city 10x what they did it for and it would still be under construction.
Musk has his flaws, but he knows how to streamline things.

how ever many there were, there's at least one more now

Pound for pound he is worth 50,000 unelected shitforbrain democrat partisans. Probably more.

Just sit back and watch him go to work.

He doesn’t need the money, he doesn’t need the accolades, he just wants to makes things better.

Our Fed Government is not on a sustainable fiscal path. How is this not BLATANTLY ****ING OBVIOUS BY NOW?
