Why not run some slants to Ryan Boyle?

This always cracks me up. We saw him all of two plays, at the end of a scrimmage and people lose their minds and can't understand why he isn't playing.
What fans don't see is always better than what fans see...What fans don't know about a player is always better than what fans know about a player...this holds true from unrealistic fan to unrealistic fan!

I know what ticks me off is not even giving a player a chance to perform during a game.
Why not have Boyle or Falconer in for a few plays during an actual game thats not a
blowout just to see if they give the offense a spark. The not doing it in practice is the biggest
cop out bs excuse also as some players get more focused during actual game than practice.

To think that somehow a player that can't cut it in practice is all of the sudden going to be a stud in a game is just not reality. What kind of system would that be where they just put kids in regardless of how good they are day in and day out in practice just to see if they play better in games? Using that logic, everyone on the team should get playing time. Boyle is in the first year of learning a new position. I don't think it is realistic to think you could just throw him out there and he is going to tear it up against starting DBs in the Big Ten.

P.S. Falconer has been injured.

Calling for more playing time for Young and Scheel makes more sense to me. Those guys are on the depth chart and the coaches have talked them up. I saw give them more reps and let's see what they got. Although Scheel did get a lot of reps last week he was just never targeted.

The problem with this thread (and many threads) is the fact that it makes it sound like the answer is really simple, which it is not. Simple having a WR (any WR) run a slant route would not be good in any way, it was like when JP was in and all he did was Jet Sweep...it might work a game maybe 2 but other teams do watch film. Also, imply that Boyle is more athletic than our other receivers is misguided at best, Boyle was athletic for a QB in the state of Iowa..but is probably not even in the top 1/2 of the WR crew in speed/agility. Also it has been pointed out that he has played the position for what.....6 months now....it will take time. He will get faster, more agile, and run better routes. I agree he is built very well, is competitive, great leader, and knows how to win...which is why I credit the staff for this move to get on the field....it just may not happen as quickly as many would like or think.
