Wigginton....He Gone

Told Clone fans this was coming, these guys don't want to be in Ames, still one more defection to come. Feel bad this kid hurt his draft stock so much coming back, guys don't really improve under Prohm though.

A lot of guys have improved massively under Prohm. Shayok, Burton, Nader, Jacobsen, etc. Do you feel bad for Tyler Cook that he regressed this year and hasn't improved?

I feel bad for the Hawk players that they didn’t put 100 on the Clowns.

That’s kind of on Fran though. He made them dribble out the last 3 or 4 minutes of the game.

How much improvement did Shayok show overall? No doubt he was a much better offensive player when he got into ISU's uptempo system compared to UVA.

His ORtg jumped 13.5 points from his 3rd year junior season at UVA to his 5th year senior season at ISU. However, in that same time period, his DRtg was 12 points worse.

I like Prohm, think he's a good guy. However, Burton's PER went from 22 to 20.6. Nader's went from 12.2 to 15.8. Shayok after sitting out a whole year, went from 15.7 to 20.4, Jacobson's after sitting out a whole year went from 17.5 to 20.5. They improved, but massive?

I don't pay attention to Clone BB, but it sure sounds like their fans are going to be very disappointed next year:)

Its about a 50/50 split now on CF.

Some thing they are destined for 9th or 10th in the league next season and others think they will compete for an NCAA bid.

How will they compete for an NCAA bid? Is the loud-mouthed pu$$y, Jacobson, going to become their go-to guy?

Well according to the optimistic ones:

Lewis or Griffin or both will take major steps forward next season. They just need more playing time.
Solomon Young is going to make a huge difference.
Haliburton will become their go to offensive threat.
Nixon will be their hard nosed defender and most explosive offensive guy. (This guy has horrible metrics on D and shot 35% for Colorado St.)
Prohm will get an impact grad transfer to play on the wing
One of the incoming freshmen (class ranked 9th out of 10 in the Big 12) will provide a big spark

But it is obvious improvement which 33 sats does not happen with Prohm as a coach.

Prohm’s not a good coach. Not sold on Campbell either. He needed to win that bowl game to have merely a “good” season imo.

As far as I’m concerned Jamie Pollard is the best thing to happen for the Hawkeyes in a while.

I hope they keep him for a long time so we don’t have to worry about losing to them much in the future.

Again, obvious though? I'm not sure i really noticed Nader or Burton become better. They both received more playing time. Shayok played one year, and i didn't watch him enough at Virginia to say he got better. Taking a whole year off, I'd think that player SHOULD get better, much like Jacobson (who I will give credit, he definitely got better from his Nebraska days). Talley seemed to regress. Lard regressed. Babb, even. Lewis, any better? Wiggington, any better? I don't really see it with many of these players outside of Jacobson and Shayok, who both sat out a year, which clearly helps.

So the only players who "improved" are two transfers who got bigger roles at ISU. That doesn't seem like improving as much as getting more opportunity. Like you mentioned there's a long list of guys who regressed under him. Wiggington def got worse, same with Babb, Talley, Lard, Young most likely will be the same way. Any fan who thinks ISU will compete for an NCAA spot next year is in for a rude awakening.

Jacobson did not have a bigger role at ISU than he did at Nebraska. He played the same minutes at both places, but increased his field goal percentage by over 20%. They had the same opportunities both places.

Shayok got more minutes, but improved all his shooting percentages over his last year at UVA.

Wigginton did not get worse, his percentages and scoring were the same per minute, he just got less minutes, partly due to the injury and partly due to having a better team around him.

Talley was moved out of the rotation. He was what he was. He would have had similar production had he gotten minutes.

Good call on the non-development of NWB. Prohm said he had the most NBA potential of anyone on their roster in the fall of 2016.

That roster included Monte Morris, Matt Thomas, Deonte Burton and Naz Long.

Nader was single handedly the most improved player year over year that I ever recall watching at ISU. I cringed every time he shot as a junior and he was a stud as a senior.

Curious though on your thoughts on Fran and player development. Did any of Fran's players improve this year? Most all of the team shot worse from the field this year than last year. Bohannon saw his assists go down, Garza saw his rebounds dip, Moss, Cook and Bohannon scored less. Are their specific players that improved?

Prohm said that prior to Babb battling tendonitis. Babb has never really been the same since it flared up mid year last year.

Yeah, his numbers as a sophomore and junior prior to being injured just scream NBA potential.

Without the knee issues, NWB would not have had better NBA potential than any of those guys I listed from that team.

i think Iowa State just needs to have the same expectations Iowa does. Do not compete for Big Ten regular or conference Championships, and win an occasional first round tournament game.

Prior to the knee problems as a junior, NWB was averaging like 11, 7 and 7 including 4 straight double doubles. No clue if he could have kept it up but averaging those numbers does show some NBA potential though I doubt he would have made it.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect to compete for a Big 10 title either if I was an ISU fan.

So literally every good thing that could happen will happen? Delusional and unrealistic as hell. Its 2 years ago all over again for them. Back to focusing on big brother out east for CyTwins and 1979. 2 biggest douchebags on any message board.

Delusional and cytwins go hand in hand. Maybe the most epic fail ever was last August when he was claiming ISU was better at the TE spot than Iowa. Half a year later Iowa set to have 2 go in the 1st rd of the nfl draft.

Oh theres been more.

Sam Richardson was better than Beathard.

Demond Tucker was better than Jaleel Johnson.

Mike Warren was better than Wadley.

Kempt was better than Stanley.

In 2017, it was a toss up between Gervase and Josh Jackson as to who the worst d back on the Iowa team was.

It is stupid to believe the current ISU roster makes the Dance next year. Very important spring to say the least in regards to recruiting for Prohm.

Let me get this straight... ISU has dominated the series lately, won four conference tourneys and have two Sweet 16’s in the last 6 years, have a bunch of NBA players to Iowa’s none, have two young studs declaring for the NBA draft.... and you are talking basketball smack?

Why, because you almost won a 2nd round tourney game for the first time in twenty years? That’s funny. Little bro.

I’d assume the smack talk has everything to do with the present. You know, that 14 point beat down a few months ago.

But we can talk past b-ball success if you want as well. It won’t be good for ISU though.

Oh it will, if you pick a specific time frame that looks good for them

Define dominated the series lately.

2-2 since Prohm has been at ISU. Both Iowa wins by double digits. The 2 Clone wins by 1 and 6 points.

You'll always have that court storm after a top 5 ISU beat an unranked Iowa at home, little bro.

Prohm had 2 really good classes but lost the best players from each class one being Wiggington who is one of the highest rated recruits they've gotten in a long time. In those other classes 4* Lewis hasn't lived up to his ranking. Haliburton very good player. Conditt played some he showed some good flashes at time but jury still out on him. But after those 2 good classes the one they are bringing in next year no where close to these classes and ranked towards the bottom of the conference in the rankings which my point would be doesn't look like a freshman class where you will see impact freshman players like Wiggington or Horton-Tucker.

Unless you are wearing ketchup and mustard glasses I don't know how one can think they are a tourney team for next year with the roster they have as of today.

What is Fran’s record vs ISU? When was the last time Iowa won in Hilton? We’ll define win as scoring more points than the opponent, we won’t use your definition

When was the last time ISU lead in the series, you know scored more points in more games? Isn’t it fun when you can cherry pick things?

It was god awful before Prohm showed up, that’s for sure. Now we’re dropping double digit beat downs on the Clones on the reg. So glad they’re keeping him around.

I'm asking for his definition because it hasn't been that lopsided since Prohm took over.

What time frame are you/him using?

I can’t wait for this to turn into a football conversation, where clone fans will only recognize the CyHawk series record from 1999 on. Don’t bother going back only 5 years, 10 years, 15 years or even 40 years. It has to be 20 years exactly (no less and no more) or it’s not going to accurately reflect their dominance (in the series).
