Will Brands/IOWA want to draw opening weight?

Not sure I ever remember Iowa drawing the weight. Probably no reason 2 in the past with dynamite 125lbers. Will TNT draw tonight?

Tom posted on Twitter that the draw is for the weak.

EDIT: I was mistaken; it was a different Tom that tweeted this.

I have a feeling it will be 11-0 after the first 3 then all Hawks with the exception of maybe 165 (if Lewis does in fact move up and takes on a recently recovered Marinelli I am not sure who I pick). This shouldn't be a close dual unless Rutgers can pull off an upset somewhere else.

Why would he want to draw? With the meet on the line you wouldn’t want Stoll out there? He’s our best chance at a fall. Look what happened last week.

Wrestlers are hardheaded tough guys resistant to change. TNT have embodied this but seemed willing to adapt to the current world we live in (the fact he tweeted at all is evidence of this). I guess there are some things they are still stubborn on.

Worst starting weight would be 141 but 125 and 133 are not too far off.

You can quell a large hostile crowd by jumping out to a lead and establishing momentum. Best case would be 157 start with Kemerer getting bonus, world champ losing at whatever weight and Hawks jumping out to double digit lead with the most accomplished Hawk (Sorensen) anchoring the lineup.

Probably another area where TnT are too "old school" in their thinking IMO. We would probably be better off to draw. Starting out on the road in a rowdy environment and letting them build early momentum is probably not the wisest move, but one that I think they will choose.

Whatever Rutgers chose to do when they last visited CHA is what I would do. If they were willing to start at 25 for tradition, when they knew they were going to get smashed at those weights more than the others, then I would respect that and start at 25. If they tried to avoid it, then we should do the same.

Its just dumb to not want to draw. Why even go down the path of putting the team in a double digit hole right out of the gate?

Manage the team and put the team in the best situation and spare me the macho BS please.

We need coaches who know how to manage.

Attention to detail!

Start at 125 and beat them. That’s attention to detail. You will be happy to know that Terry won’t be there wearing his green sweater. That should be a deciding detail.

Start at 125 and send the message to the team: "I have complete confidence in you guys, and you should as well"

I hope the message is last time the team wrestled they wasted 30 minutes of 1st period action and only had 1 takedown to show for it. That is unacceptable and is not what Iowa wrestling is about.

IMO that should have been the only message all week in the room.

I hope to see a big jump in 1st period action tonight. Another reason Id rather not start at the 3 lower weights where takedowns will be scarce. Momentum can be a funny thing.

Good I am glad to hear someone informed Terry that he is a D1 coach and what our school colors are.

But you don't wrestle like we did vs the Illini and get to play the tough card. Its getting old. Spare me the cheap talk and lets see the action. Draw, put the team first then lets shoot them off the mat tonight.

Believe it or not I am wanting the best for the team. But stuff needs called out and we have been giving this staff to many free passes and enabling the caveman mentality.

Wrong he won’t be there because he will be in Cedar Falls with the wrestlers there. The wrestlers are still laughing about the green sweater post.

I like the idea of drawing weights just because, I hate to have the last match of the meet be the heavies. Usually it is the most boring match.

Using that logic, there's no need to draw at all because our guys will all wrestle the exact same regardless of what order they go in

Huh? you draw to try to keep the crowd from becoming a real factor with Suriano leading off. What about shutting the crowd up early if Stoll gets picked sooner with that same pin. Its been proven that crowds can influence refs. Iowa fans should know this better than anyone.

Wrong lol, what are you 12 yrs old?

I'm glad the wrestlers are having such fun. Last Friday was so much fun to watch!

If you don't understand wearing proper attire to represent your school I'm not sure what to tell you. How many coaches have you ever seen where something unrelated to the team they are representing?

Answer: It doesn't happen. If Mike Tomlin came out in a green sweater, it would be all over the news and talked about. Luckily Terry gets free passes because the media gives 2 sh!ts about wrestling. Could you imagine what would happen if Ferentz poked a ref.

They get free passes on how unprofessional they are because they are in a minor sport.

Suriano is gonna look for a tech/pin regardless of if he goes first or not, just like Stoll is gonna look for a pin regardless of order (as you have said).

Do you really think the message we want to send to our guys is "the crowd is really gonna get really riled up when you lose, so we're gonna try to hold off on your match as long as possible"? We should be saying "this crowd really thinks you're gonna lose this match; go shut them up"

and I'd prefer to wrestled Suriano one hour after weigh-in, as opposed to three hours after.
