My thoughts
132 - RBY was more offensive, but these were the two quickest wrestlers in the building. Neither could score on their quick go-behinds. Silva the better gas tank and the "cleaner" wrestler. There was no scramble available when he got to the leg. Really sad we missed out on him.
145 - Sasso. We need Sasso. Will give a different look in the room, likes the lights, likes to pin.
195 - I wonder if Hoffman is an 184. He looked really good. I was surprised that Beard had the more effective over-tie. That was a great game plan victory. He was ready for that single and his counter attacks were world level. Beard has a better tank than I thought.
Silva's potential is off the charts. The kid is such a superb athlete. I honestly believe Silva will win at least two NCAA Championships by time he is done with college. Where ever he goes. I know he is committed to Michigan right now, but we all know how much verbals are worth and his stock continues to rise which means more programs are going to be calling, or calling again, this time with better offers. He would be foolish not to listen.
Sasso is a stud. The kid can turn it on like no one's business. The only issue seems to be consistency or perhaps just motivation, as sometimes he seems uninterested and as a result has dropped some matches to people I think he is clearly more talented than.
Hoffman is the most under rated #1 ranked guy at his weight I have seen in recent memory. All he does is win. He took a bronze at Junior World's and now knocked off Beard. Interestingly, you are now the third person I have seen who opined that Hoffman looks more like a 184, at least early in his career, rather than a 197, where he is projected to be at. Looking at Ohio State's lineup and roster, I wonder if perhaps that is the plan. Martin is a rising Junior at 184, whose eligibility will expire just as Hoffman is coming off a redshirt season, while Moore at 197 will have one year remaining. Perhaps one year at 184, before moving up for Hoffman is in the cards? I have no inside information on this situation. It was just something that drew my attention and I took note off. The kid is a stud and will be very successful at whatever weight he settles on.
On another note, Ohio State isn't going anywhere. Grant Hoffman, Decatur twins, Malik Heiselman, Chase Singletary, Kaleb Romero, Ethan Smith, Jaden Maddox, Rocky Jordan, Braken Mead, Nate Keaton, Kyle Hubbard, Troy Steiner, Kyle Gruber, Ryan Ferro, Jamie Hood, and the Koontz twins all coming in as recruits. Plus three transfers that should all contribute this year in Joey Mckenna-Sophomore 141/149, TeShan Campbell-Sophomore 165/174, and Hunter Lucas-RS Freshmen, 125. The train is still chugging along too with Carr and Sasso both rumored to be seriously considering the Buckeyes. Sasso just seems like a carbon copy of J. Jaggers, who is of course coaching at Ohio State (for the time being, as he has to be on the short list whenever a head job opens up at just about any University now, but he seems to enjoy Columbus, having been there for going on 14 years now, so maybe he will turn down other opportunities to stay at Ohio State as his wife went to school there as well and they have three children. I doubt it though, he would be an enormous loss for them in the recruiting game if and when that happens, not to mention his notorious fantastic fundraising prowess, which can not be over looked in building a program nowadays). Jaggers of course AA'd as an unseeded wrestler, won an NCAA Championship as a 13th seed and another NCAA Championship as a 6th seed. Safe to assume he also "liked the bright lights" as you opined about Sasso and I agree.
