Woodson has choice words about Fran incident with bench

Indeed. Historically, most coaches really turn it up a notch or two after their 16th year on the job and after their 67th birthday.

There is no doubt in my mind that the best is yet to come.

Idiocy like this is why Iowa revenue sports coaches have less accountability and far more job security than US Senators. smh...

It took a monumental comeback and a super hero effort from Kris at HOME to get this unstable jackass to 1-3 in the league, and some people act like he's Dean F'ing Smith at 40. I'm having a harder and harder time respecting a lot of our fan base.
Coached a pretty good game today. Even had a clipboard and was drawing up plays on it.

When you win, you get away with more. Just how sports work. Nothing hypocritical or simple minded about it.

Yes, I forgot that I read that in the NCAA rule book about rules being applied differently based off of winning percentage. Now I remember.

And people wonder why Fran loses his shit from time to time.

I would probably be even worse than Fran. Bob Knights chair throwing incident would be minor with the terrible reffing in the big 10.

For not caring that much you seem to continue to belabor the point.
A person that doesn’t care that much wouldn’t be demanding to have polls posted, doubling and tripling down on your point, etc.
For the fourth time, the only point I was trying to make is that it is actually very easy to be liked and get along in this online community. You cheer on Iowa, you joke around a bit and you enjoy banter with other posters. It would be stupid to be “arrogant” about that because any simpleton - even me - can accomplish it.

What is remarkable is finding a way to be so toxic and stupid that you are nearly universally loathed in this community as Northern is. Now that is an accomplishment that takes literally years of abject stupidity.

Your mistake is thinking I care that much.

Well you certainly bring up how well liked you are a lot so it seems you do care. Northern being a not well liked poster and overall disgusting human just goes without saying for those that have been here awhile

Lotta slow readers in this thread, lol.

There is a difference between caring and setting the record straight. Just trying to set the record straight, AGAIN.

Show me in the NBA rule book where someone like Lebron has different rules than the last guy on the bench on a ten day contract?!? Now I remember. Just because you want to bury your head in the sand doesn’t mean that’s not how things are. 🤷‍♂️

And you seem to be okay with that?!?! I am not and obviously Fran is not because we’re just little ole Iowa.

But that’s how things are I guess. Might as well just accept it and take it.

Never said I was ok with it. And what’s strange to me is that Iowa is seemingly built much better for the NCAA whistle than the Big Ten. Big ten teams seem to get to the ncaa tourney after pounding and beating each other up all season, and aren’t ready for a much tighter whistle than you get in the Big Ten. I always thought that is a huge advantage for iowa, but hasn’t played out that way yet.

Iowa is not playing (or hasn’t been playing) B1G competition in the tournament either.

2013-14: Took an 11 seed Tenn to OT. Tenn reached the sweet 16.

2014-15: beat Davidson and lost to Gonzaga who reached the elite 8 before losing to the eventual national champion.

2015-16: beat Temple and lost to the eventual national champion Villanova.

2018-19: beat Cincy and lost to Tenn in OT (again).

2019-20: cancelled

2020-21: beat GCU and then got beat by a criminally under seeded Oregon team coming off a first rd bye.

2021-22: beat by Richmond.

I would say Iowa has moderate success in the tournament but generally has lost to the better team. The last two years being the exception with an argument for Oregon given the other circumstances. The Oregon game may be the biggest disappointment in Fran’s tenure, until Richmond came along. Keegan gets dinged up and no one can shoot (besides PMac). Ugh.

Good post. Hadn't thought about the teams we lost to.

There is certainly some “luck” when it comes to the NCAA tournament. Not saying every team needs that luck (ie blue bloods) although some of them have surely benefited from it at times. Iowa is a program that’s going to need a little help to make a deep tournament run.

2020-21: Vs Oregon, Iowa ran into quite a bit of bad luck.

2021-22: vs Richmond there was some bad luck but should have been able to overcome that.

And they are going to have to beat a really good team. You look at uni during their sweet 16 run and they handed it to Kansas. That was a pretty good game.

Every coach is a tool if you dislike his team, but Fran is indeed a crazy person.
Cmon Illini man. your better then that. Fran is no more of an imposing red ass then the guy sitting on your bench. Underwood can get just as red ass, and look like he's going to blow out the top of his head, just like Fran.... Throw in Izzo, and Howard on your list as well......

Okay, you win. You don’t care but are very passionate about setting the record straight.
To me, and I am a simple man…..
If I know I am right, and I don’t care then I don’t really give two sh*ts about ‘setting the record straight’

Fully prepared for the ‘for the SIXTH damn time I am going to tell you that I don’t care and damnit people like me’
Odd hill to plant your flag on.

Woodson is such a whiney B, Fran can go over there if he wants and for eye sore really? DO yout think the same of all the other coaches who do far worse but don't get any crap for it? Give me a break dude coaches do far worse than Fran always get a free pas...
Whenever a coach sees the opposing coach huddling with the officials they tend to get curious.

Speaking of Woodson what an awful hire. Head scratcher at the time. Besides being an alum who was 63 when they hired him he was fired twice as nba coach, been an assistant for past 7-8 years and had no college experience. He has a good talented team especially with TDJ. But he and thompson are gone and good chance that 5* guard is one and done after this season. They better get someone lot more talented and qualified whenever they hire their next coach which is probably not too far away.

Woodson has spoken to Kevin Warren.

I wonder if Mike knows that Fran and Kevin were college teammates. ;)

I’m sure the IU bench was completely innocent in all of this. I’d love to know what their bench said in regards to them “talking shit” to the Iowa players and more about this technical foul (which was never accessed but clearly pointed to the IU assistant).

Hopefully dummy opened up a can of worms on his own self.

Enough.....we're all letting Woodson off the hook for his team giving up one of the largest comebacks in IA history.
Don't let him control the message; rather, let the end score (fact) control the message.....that being IU lost. BTW, and again at NW. Woodson's message should now be HE let Iowa beat his coaching twice....that's the message
