Border politics

Obviously the border is a political football. Here's how I see the POLITICS of it playing out.

For Joe and the D's. It's imperative the Senate cuts the Ukraine/Gaza/Israel/Taiwan/border deal. Joe needs to get involved and get it done. Do that and it's get's thrown in the R's lap....if the R controlled House doesn't pass the Senate deal it's on the R's.

If a Senate deal doesn't get cut it's on Joe and the D's.

Basically as simple as that.....politically.

"President Biden repeated a dubious claim about the death of his son, Beau Biden, during a call with the parents of a U.S. service member who was recently killed in an attack on a base in Jordan near the border with Syria.

While speaking on Tuesday to the parents of 24-year-old Specialist Kennedy Ladon Sanders, who lost her life in an Iran-backed drone strike this month in northeast Jordan that killed three service members total and injured 25 others, Biden said he lost his son to the war in Iraq."

SuperBowl LVIII will have Doink Cameras

“We both looked at each other at the same time and said, ‘Oh my God!'” Cohen, CBS Sports’ vice president of Remote Technical Operations, said Thursday during a conference call with reporters.

Butker’s narrow miss was the inspiration for CBS' unveiling the “Doink Camera” on Feb. 11, when the 49ers meet the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII. The network is inserting six “Doink Cameras” inside the uprights at Allegiant Stadium, enabling its Super Bowl broadcast to capture unprecedented angles of field goals and extra points.

Cohen said the uprights in both end zones will have three “Doink Cameras” apiece, each facing the field at different angles. While the cameras have the ability to provide a unique perspective of more than just field goals and extra points, Cohen admitted that CBS wouldn’t mind seeing either Butker or San Francisco rookie kicker Jake Moody hit an upright.

“Obviously, if we get a doink, we’ll all be very excited and probably high-five each other in the truck,” Cohen said.

Five Polls That Show Joe Biden's Chances of Re-Election Are in Jeopardy

As the 2024 election year inches closer, a number of polls released in recent days have raised questions about the chances of Joe Biden winning over voters to hold on to the keys to the White House for a second term.

The various surveys paint a picture of the incumbent president as unable to win over the electorate on key planks of his agenda, from his economic plans to tackle inflation, coping with illegal migration at the southern land border to appealing to younger voters.

Biden has also been plagued by concerns about his age among the wider electorate. At 80, he is the oldest serving president in U.S. history, but has brushed off questions about his physical and mental health, stating in 2022: "I no more think of myself as being as old as I am than a fly."

Biden's Disapproval Rating Hits All-Time High

A new NBC poll, released on Saturday and conducted between September 15-19, found that the president's disapproval rating was at 56 percent—the highest it had recorded since tracking began when Biden took office in January 2021.

The latest polling aggregate gives Biden an overall approval rating of 41 percent and a disapproval rating of 54.6 percent—a few points lower than its worst last summer, though part of a consistent trend of being viewed as more unpopular than popular.

One Poll Puts Trump 10 Points Ahead

A Washington Post/ABC poll released on Saturday, based on the responses of 1,006 U.S. adults surveyed between September 15-20, gave the president's likely 2024 rival Donald Trump a 10 percent lead over Biden in a likely 2024 election match-up.

While the authors of the poll cautioned that it was likely an outlier—other recent national surveys putting the gap between Trump and Biden at around a percent either way—it comes as the president is facing a consistently low job approval rating since entering office.
Disapproval of his handling of the economy was at 64 percent, according to the Post/ABC poll, while his response to the migration crisis at the southern border is at 62 percent. An Associated Press survey in August similarly gave him 36 percent approval on the economy.

Large Number of Democrats Would Vote for Rfk Jr. as a Third-Party Candidate

A third of Democratic voters said they would vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. if he were to be unsuccessful in his party's primary battle and run as an independent in the 2024 presidential election, according to a recent study.

A Rasmussen Reports survey of 998 likely voters, conducted between September 17-18, found 57 percent of likely Democratic voters plan to support Biden in the Democratic primaries, while 25 percent would vote for Kennedy, three percent for other hopeful Marianne Williamson and seven percent for any other candidate.

Kennedy Jr., the son of another presidential hopeful and the nephew of President John F. Kennedy, has emerged as Joe Biden's closest challenger for the Democratic nomination since announcing his White House bid in April, though Biden is widely seen as the presumptive nominee.

Biden's Support Plummeting With Black Voters, His Historic Base

The same NBC poll that gave Biden his worst disapproval rating also showed growing dissatisfaction among Black voters over his performance during his first term. His job approval rating slipped from 80 percent in 2021 to 63 percent among Black voters—though it also found 76 percent would still vote for him come 2024.

While Biden maintains overall support among Black voters, other surveys have provided evidence to suggest a disconnect with the younger generation. One found that just 20.9 percent of those aged 18-49 wanted him to run for a second term.

A Democratic candidate for president has traditionally needed the Black vote to win. When Biden ran in 2020, he attracted 92 percent of the Black vote, compared to just eight percent for Trump, according to analysis by the Pew Research Center.

Party's Own Voters Think It's Veered Too Far to the Left

A Morning Consult poll conducted between August 29 and September 1 and released Monday found, by a nine-point margin, that voters believe the Democrats are more ideologically extreme than Republicans.

Analysis of the results of the survey by the pollsters said the trend was being "largely driven by worsening perceptions among its own voter base."

"President Biden entered office pledging to go big on government in the vein of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and while some of his most ambitious plans such as Build Back Better were ultimately pared down, Democrats have still spent a ton of money to provide new benefits for Americans," Cameron Easley, a Morning Consult political analyst, previously told Newsweek. "So, some of this may well just be a case of voters believing what Democrats are telling them."

He suggested that Biden was likely one of the main reasons the Democrats were being viewed as having stagnated more since 2020 than any other party.

Seems this is a bit much. Apparently this guy is someone’s security guard. Not really any sort of physical threat here from the dude that gets punched.

Also just want to say, that all random vids of weird things occurring in public are 100 times better around Halloween because everyone is dressed up. One of my favorite things from back in college was driving around downtown IC the morning after a big Halloween night and seeing all the walk of shames happening while they’re still partially in costume/csb

“Don’t Want the Democratic Party Trying to Run My Life”: Over Five Million Americans Flee the “Blue States”

According to economists, the United States is currently undergoing one of the largest mass migrations in its brief history. Over five million individuals have reportedly moved out of “blue states” like California in search of better opportunities in Texas or Florida.

Celebrities that have left “blue” California in recent years include Rob Schneider, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Walberg, and Joe Rogan. The Democratic Party of the country is frequently held accountable, as Schenider clarifies, saying, “I really feel like I don’t want the Democratic Party trying to run my life. And there’s not one aspect of your life that they don’t want to interfere with. I had it with them.”

Over Five Million Americans Have Fled the “Blue States”

In a recent appearance with Fox Business, well-known economist Stephen Moore clarified that the tendency is far wider than initially believed. In the past ten years, more than five million Americans have reportedly left “blue states” including California, New York, Illinois, and New Jersey.

Americans’ Patience Running Out
People moving out of blue-voting states will occasionally say that they have had enough of the negative effects of Democratic policy. Some believe that their democratically elected governments have not delivered much development and have instead let the people down.

Progressive Policies Gone Too Far?
Some feel that progressive measures have gone too far and are frustrating. Issues that inhabitants find particularly difficult to deal with include homelessness, crime, and property prices.

Got to the Point I Was Too Scared to Leave My House
A significant number of people escaping from large cities may have been driven out by recent increases in crime. An increase in crime is frequently linked to urban exodus. According to CNN, in response to a rash of crimes, several Oakland, California, homeowners felt insecure in the neighborhood and increased security. Kristin Cook, a local, went to Texas because she “got to the point I was too scared to leave my house.”

Higher Taxes in “Blue States”
Although Moore acknowledges that it’s challenging to determine the precise reason for Americans’ desire to leave the “blue states,” he has proposed two theories as to why the migrations are occurring. The economist said that a major factor in the migrations is the desire of firms to concentrate in “red states” due to the perks, as well as higher taxes in “blue states.”

You Can Move to Florida and Texas and Pay Zero!
“California just adopted a new tax increase,” stated the economist. The state agreed to raise the highest tax level for those making more than $1 million to 14.4%. “You can move to Florida and Texas and pay zero,” he said. “This is a no-brainer.” Moore went on, “I wish these blue states would get together and stop avoiding reality, which is taxes do matter, and they matter a lot.”

Better Right-To-Work Laws in Red States
According to Moore, there is “a migration of business activity and capital investment” departing the “blue states” in addition to inhabitants. His argument holds that companies are moving to the “red states” because of their stronger right-to-work legislation, which are crucial in maintaining the union-worker connection.

A Pro-business Atmosphere
These particular restrictions were put in place to make sure that workers could not be coerced into joining a union or making dues payments if they choose not to. Moore clarified that this may be a contributing factor in the large number of companies moving to “red states,” stating, “They have lighter regulation, better policies across the board. A pro-business atmosphere.”
