After a two-game appetizer of Big Ten action, Iowa returns to non-conference play for a few more weeks -- and faces its toughest test of the season so far: #3 Iowa State, 7-1 on the season and looking every bit the part of a Top-5 team. The game is also the annual CyHawk clash, of course, which hasn't featured many close games of late.

Since an 84-78 Iowa State win in 2018, no CyHawk game has been decided by less than 14 points (a 98-84 Iowa win in 2019). Last year was one of the most lopsided, with Iowa State rolling Iowa, 90-65, in Ames. The Hawkeyes have won four-straight games over the Cyclones in Iowa City, by an average of 18.8 points per game.

IC Bar Hop

I just got back to IC and have today and tomorrow until xmas commitments begin. I figured a little downtown bar hop would be a great way to pass the time. Make individuals suggestions or plan a route.

Tentative plan:

- Deadwood for a warm up, and cross the street to
- Dublin Underground as it's been at least a few years, round the corner to
- Joe's Place, usually make at least one stop here every time I'm back in IC, a little popcorn before hoofing it over to
- Club Car to see who I still recognize and cap it off

Any relatively new places that are worth a stop? Looking at Google Maps, never heard of Wild Culture, looks ok. I like Arcade Bars and Double Tap is alright.

Revenue Sharing

When revenue sharing starts.

1. Will student athletes be classified as employees or independent contractors?
2. Will their pay be public record?
3. Can the university fine them if they violate university policy?
4. Will student athletes unionize?
4. If they do unionize, will there be a collective bargaining agreement?

Vikings bought 1,900 tickets on the Secondary Market near the Visitors' bench for $2M & then offered them to stakeholders for $200-$300 each

The winner of today's Minnesota (14-2) at Detroit (14-2) game wins the NFC North and the #1 seed in the NFC playoffs; they also would need to win just 2 home playoff games to reach the Super Bowl.

The loser gets the #5 seed and would (likely) have to win 3 playoff games on the road to reach the Super Bowl.

The Minnesota Vikings found an effective but expensive way this week to increase their in-stadium presence during Sunday night's winner-take-all NFC North matchup with the host Detroit Lions.

The team purchased roughly 1,900 tickets near the Ford Field visitor's bench on the secondary market, ESPN confirmed Saturday, at roughly $1,000 per ticket -- or just under $2 million in total. The Vikings then offered them to team-based stakeholders at a cost that ranged from $200 to $300 per ticket, ESPN confirmed.

In a statement, the Vikings said: "Given the uniqueness of this game, we wanted to offer our stakeholders -- staff, family, season ticket members and team partners -- an opportunity to attend."

The Lions declined to comment when reached by ESPN.

The series of transactions is unusual but within NFL rules, highlighting the significance of Sunday's game to both teams. The winner will clinch the NFC North title as well as the NFC's No. 1 playoff seed with a first-round bye, while the loser will be the No. 5 seed and open the playoffs on the road in the wild-card round.

Sports Illustrated first reported news of the Vikings' ticket acquisition.

No. 19 Missouri 27, Iowa 24: QBNone

In a game where Brendan Sullivan could have solidified himself as the man to beat for Iowa's starting QB position in the spring, he and the #Hawkeyes came up short.

Iowa needs another portal quarterback -- and they need one soon.
