Iowa moving students closer to the floor at Carver

A little closer, anyway, so Beth says. Getting students around the floor of Carver the way they do at Michigan State and Illinois and many other arenas is, apparently, like trying to arrange peace in the Middle East . . . all but impossible. But the effort continues in Iowa City.

Meanwhile, MSU and those other schools have had students in the bottom 10 rows or so all around the court for years and years. And somehow they still get the old folks and the big donors and everyone else into the building. It makes me wonder why it's so difficult in Iowa City. Ask MSU how in the world they figured it out, and maybe do what they did. Could what works in East Lansing possibly work way out west in Iowa City?

Anyway, I guess as long as the ice cream machines are working, it can't be all bad . . .

The Democrantisemite party is forcing elected Hebrews to switch parties

She continued, “As a mother, I want to help build a world where our children are judged on their character and their actions not on their labels. As a proud Jewish woman, I have been increasingly troubled by the Democratic Party’s failure to unequivocally support Israel and its willingness to tolerate extreme progressive voices that justify or condone acts of terrorism.

Sell the team!’ chants break out at Soldier Field

One of the lasting memories of the 2024 Chicago Bears season will be fans chanting “Sell the team!” in the final two minutes and as they exited Soldier Field on Thursday night after the team’s 10th consecutive loss.

The Bears still had the ball. They had crossed midfield. They still had the ability to stop the clock and they were trailing the Seattle Seahawks just 6-3 when the disgruntled crowd picked up on what White Sox fans did at Rate Field during a record-setting season of futility. There was no mistaking what the message was as the Bears offense tried to engineer a game-winning drive.

The opportunity fizzled out. The Bears lost 6-3 to fall to 4-12 with one game remaining before the team launches headfirst into its coaching search. Quarterback Caleb Williams took seven sacks in what was another lousy performance by the offense. The Bears are now 98-3 since the start of the 1950 season when they limit the opponent to six points or fewer.

Ya’ll getting some time off this holiday season?

I’m a couple hours away from being on vacation for rest of the year. Might check in a little Monday, but nothing big. Much needed break. It’s probably my favorite time of year for a staycation as they call it. It seems more acceptable to just stay in your pajamas and sleep in during the holidays than it does any other time of year. I’ve tried it. On a Tuesday in July, it just feels wrong and I feel guilty. Not this time of year so that is what I’m going to do.

How about you? You getting some time off? What are your plans?

Never thought this would happen

I am 76 years old, grew up in CR and a life long Hawk fan. Have been to over 100 football games home and away, same with mens basketball. Live in NE Iowa and still make the trip to IC for sporting events. Coached boy's basketball for 27 years and taught for 41. Never thought it would be possible for me to enjoy watching the women play more that the men, but that is what has happened. Hate to admit it but I can't name everyone on the men's roster but can the womens. Can't believe this is what has happened.

Democranti-science party strikes again

The Marxist bill was carried by Democrat Senator Liz Krueger and Assembly Member Jeffrey Dinowitz.
“The Climate Change Superfund Act is now law, and New York has fired a shot that will be heard round the world: the companies most responsible for the climate crisis will be held accountable,” said Senator Krueger.
