Never thought this would happen

I am 76 years old, grew up in CR and a life long Hawk fan. Have been to over 100 football games home and away, same with mens basketball. Live in NE Iowa and still make the trip to IC for sporting events. Coached boy's basketball for 27 years and taught for 41. Never thought it would be possible for me to enjoy watching the women play more that the men, but that is what has happened. Hate to admit it but I can't name everyone on the men's roster but can the womens. Can't believe this is what has happened.

Why do people care what Elon Musk has to say about politics?

He doesn't have any particular expertise behind most of his opinions. He doesn't appear to be extremely knowledgeable about much politically. Most of his offerings are off the cuff opinions -- usually regurgitations of other X postings -- posted on X.

He doesn't ever actually debate or have his ideas challenged intellectually. He doesn't produce in depth analysis or essays or intellectual content pertaining to his politics. He doesn't produce new or interesting political thought.

He's sort of commonly libertarian and anti-woke the way you might see on this message board.

He's a big celebrity so everybody pays attention to his politics, but anybody that's halfway well read or thought gets nothing from him.

He's boring and I don't learn anything from him.

Iowa remains #1 in NCAA Women’s Rankings

It is great to be an Iowa Wrestling fan.

Go Hawks!

Surprised at the negativity. It was the #3 team in the country, after all

Losing last night was a shame. The Hawkeyes controlled that game from the opening tip to 2.5 minutes to play. And then all that great work for 37.5 minutes went for nothing. But ISU is the #3 team in the damn country. So maybe unranked Iowa did a helluva job to stay on the same floor with such a great team.

I was ready for Fran to leave years ago. I hope we have a new head basketball coach for the men's program for next season. I'm tired of Iowa being soft on the boards and constantly getting outrebounded. But last night Iowa was playing the #3 team in the country, and Iowa outplayed them for 37.5 minutes. Those are the facts.

Izzo's MSU teams generally play tough nonconference schedules, and they lose many of those games against Duke or Kentucky or other top 25 teams, and they don't always play those teams as well as Iowa played ISU last night. But MSU almost always is competing for the BIG title and plays well in the NCAA tourney, unlike the Hawkeyes. So I can understand where people are coming from, but just based on last night itself, the Hawkeyes were great. ISU, finally, was greater. So based on that, if ISU is #3, Iowa must be a top ten team.

Iowa has lost by 2 @ #14 Michigan. It lost last night to #3 ISU by a score that in no way reflects the overall game. What matters is what happens the rest of the way. If Iowa continues to improve and continues to play hard and learns from such losses, then the season could end up being a good one. But it would be a revelation if the Hawkeyes could get after it on the boards.

Weird stuff going on in Bennington, NE.

I've seen updates for several days on this story, and it looks like the police are making progress. Multiple people have reported that while driving a night they came upon debris in the road, and had to swerve to avoid hitting it. In one case the driver could not successfully avoid the debris and wound up in a ravine. Each driver reported a man walking up to them after the accident. The immediate speculation being that the man was putting the debris into the road to cause the incidents.
