Hurricane season has arrived....

An area of disturbed weather that AccuWeather meteorologists were closely scrutinizing all week over the waters south of Mexico became the first named storm of the 2022 East Pacific hurricane season -- Agatha -- early Saturday morning. Although Agatha is a small tropical storm, forecasters expect the storm to strengthen to a hurricane as it turns toward the Mexican coast into early week.

Within six hours of being designated Tropical Depression One-E by the National Hurricane Center late Friday, Tropical Storm Agatha formed early Saturday morning amid a cluster of showers and thunderstorms in the East Pacific. Winds within the center of the storm stood at 50 mph (85 km/h) at 1 p.m. CDT Saturday, up from 40 mph (64 km/h) during the morning hours.

Forecasters say the system will remain in an environment conducive for continued strengthening up until it moves onshore in Mexico. By Sunday night, Agatha is forecast to reach Category 1 hurricane strength (maximum sustained winds of 74-95 mph, or 119-153 km/h).

Sea-surface temperatures in the area are more than sufficient for continued strengthening, and as of Saturday, the ocean water in this part of the Pacific Ocean was around 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius). At a minimum, a sea-surface temperature of 79-80 F (26-27 C) is needed for the formation and maintenance of tropical systems. In addition, wind shear in the area is very light across this part of the basin, which will also contribute to the strengthening of the storm.

AccuWeather meteorologists will be closely monitoring the leftover energy from Agatha as it crosses Mexico and enters the Bay of Campeche during the first days of June. Here, it could redevelop into the Atlantic basin's first named storm.

Owner of gold Tesla Cybertruck says he is target of threats, harassment

WORCESTER, Mass. (WBZ) – The owner of a gold Tesla Cybertruck in Massachusetts said he has been experiencing bullying and threats over his vehicle choice.

Dr. Kumait Jaroje said he found a profane sticker plastered on the back of his Cybertruck last week. The words are too derogatory to repeat.

Jaroje said he is now nervous about his safety as well as the safety of his children. He said his wife was horrified at the sticker.

“She was horrified. She was like crying, screaming out of her throat, ‘Don’t ever drive that cyber truck anymore,’” Jaroje said.

When he posted about what happened on social media, Jaroje said instead of sympathy and concern, even more hateful messages flooded his comments.

He says the harassment over his Cybertruck started after Tesla CEO Elon Musk endorsed President Donald Trump. Musk is now the head of the new Department of Government Efficiency.

Jaroje is also worried about other drivers on the road trying to cause a collision.

“Somebody tried to cut me off while I’m driving with my kids, and three guys came out of the car. And just pointed the middle finger and start screaming at me,” he said.

The Cybertruck’s unique gold color serves as a walking billboard for Jaroje’s medical spa that he built from the ground up three years ago.

“It’s a fancy, funky car that I think attracts a lot of attention,” he said.

As a Syrian immigrant, Jaroje said he is proud of following his dreams.

“I pursued my dream, you know, and now I’m enjoying the free speech, but with this taking a different turn, that made me very concerned,” he said.

Due to the harassment, Jaroje said he tried to trade in the Cybertruck, but with no luck.

He sent Tesla a photo of the hateful sticker that someone put on his vehicle, but a representative said Tesla is not accepting Cybertruck trade-ins at the moment.

Jaroje said he hopes the community will set aside judgment and be open to differences in opinion.

“If you disagree, don’t retaliate. Don’t be violent. Don’t try to hurt your neighbor, you know, we’re all human,” he said.

Favored weights for OK ST: 125, 141, 174, 184, 285

It looks like a pretty clear five-five split in terms of favored weights in this dual. Oklahoma State should be favored at 125, 141, 174, 184, and 285. If each team does take five matches in the dual, then bonus points could be vital in deciding a winner -- and Oklahoma State may be slight favorites in that department. Spratley is 1-0 lifetime against Cruz -- and beat him via 19-2 technical fall when they faced off last season. Hamiti has been a bonus point machine this season (bonus points in 78% of his 18 wins), though Kennedy and Brands are both pretty good at keeping matches close. Hendrickson is another bonus point machine, with bonus points in all but two of his wins so far this season. Slowing him down could be a tall task for Kueter.

Favored weights for IA: 133, 149, 157, 165 (slight), 197

Iowa should be favored at the dual's other five weights, though bonus point may not be easy to come by in those wins. Ayala's match against Witcraft could be pivotal -- a major decision there could provide a key point for Iowa in the team score. The Hawkeyes will also likely need the best versions of Kyle Parco and Jacori Teemer at 149 and 157, though each will be favored to win their matches in this dual, they haven't been the most consistent sources of bonus points this season and have been satisfied with 4-5 points wins at times this year; that may not be enough in this dual. Caliendo has a 2-0 lifetime record against Amine, though both of those wins came at the NCAA Tournament last year and both came in sudden victory. Still, he'd had a series of close wins over Minnesota's Andrew Sparks before opening things up for a huge technical fall win last week -- repeating that feat could go a long way in helping Iowa secure another win. Buchanan faces a tough opponent in Surber at 197, but Buchanan has been Iowa's most reliable bonus point machine this season and he's a man who has delivered in many big spots for the Hawkeyes over the course of the this season. That feels like a more of a one-takedown match, but if Buchanan is able to get him on the mat, he may be able to get some near fall points to widen the margin.

One wildcard for Iowa? Finding a potential upset win. Cruz was been on a solid trajectory in 2025, but upsetting Spratley would be a huge accomplishment for him. The weight with the most upset potential for Iowa is probably 184, especially with Angelo Ferrari getting the nod over Gabe Arnold. Arnold lost 5-1 to Dustin Plott last year. Ferrari has flashed a ton of potential at times this year and it's worth seeing if he can upset Plott.

I'll post results in the comments.
