Texas / Oklahoma get out of pay out or greatly reduced?

I was wrong yesterday when I was talking about this. It's 2 years of media rights revenue which would be the fine. So 76 million per school. They would love the Big 12 to crumble but if there is no suitors for the remaining 8 then they'll have to pay it or wait until 2025. They aren't waiting...

Over 30% of Iowa Players Unvaccinated. They will be Tested Weekly. If they Cause a a Game to Be Canceled....

COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. COVID-19 vaccines were evaluated in tens of thousands of participants in clinical trials. The vaccines met the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) rigorous scientific standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality needed to support...

There's No Reason For B1G to Expand

The only reason to expand would be if the networks want you to, and I doubt they want you to.

Please stop lying. They were approved by the FDA for emergency use. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/safety-of-vaccines.html#:~:text=Millions%20of%20people%20in%20the,monitoring%20in%20US%20history.

Over 30% of Iowa Players Unvaccinated. They will be Tested Weekly. If they Cause a a Game to Be Canceled....

Again, everybody arguing about the same crap in this thread are completely missing the point. 1. If you are vaccinated you won't be tested by the Big 10. You have a 0% chance to be forced to miss games. 2. If you aren't vaccinated and test positive, you could put other people on the shelf due...

Texas and Oklahoma have given official notice……

You're probably right. Honestly it doesn't matter anyway. The league is going to be ashes in 9 months anyway.

Texas and Oklahoma have given official notice……

It's their rights fees per year. Big 12 paid out 38 MM per school last year. So 38 million per year, for each school, until 2025. Again, this is why nobody is leaving the ACC even if their TV contract sucks. The GoR goes until 2035 and since the league is at 14.5 teams even if the top two go...

Texas and Oklahoma have given official notice……

But then what? It is what it is. If the remaining schools aren't attractive enough to be a bride for a major conference the best thing to do is just ride it out until 2025 and try to use the OU/UT money to pay down debt and rejigger your whole AD to deal with the massive decrease in budget.

Texas and Oklahoma have given official notice……

Yes, they have to be hoping the Big 12 members find soft landing spots. If they don't, the remaining 8 members could just remain together and enforce the GoR until 2025. It'd be actually about 80 million per year until 2025 for both schools.

No matter your feelings on COVID or the vaccine, the rules are the rules. They aren't changing and complaining about it does nothing. There is simply one fact here - If you don't get vaccinated, you put the team at risk of missing players for important games. Iowa has big games right out of the...

    Big Ten Expansion Team Theories

No team is leaving the SEC or ACC. ND is contractually obligated to join the ACC if they join a conference before 2036. Cincy is a G5 and in the same state as OSU who I think would wield enough of a stick to stop it from happening.

Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC?

I honestly don't think it does. And I don't believe that TCU guy for a second - The Pac 12 is not adding religious institutions IMO. I'll believe it when I see it.

Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC?

Honestly it sounds bad but I think this would probably kill most of my interest in college sports. Maybe I'm not so loyal but losing most of the games I've come to love looking forward to and replacing them with Memphis and Tulsa just doesn't do it for me. It's always been an extreme long shot...

    2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2017, 2018, 2019. 9 of them, but who's counting.

Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC?

Two things: 1. The ACC GOR goes to 2035. The Big 12's is just 2025. 2. If the ACC loses some teams, well they already have 14 members. If they lose two the conference is still going to exist. So, the leaving teams would still be on the hook for the TV rights for 14 more years. If UT and OU...

Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC?

I think all of these things might be possible I think you're off here. 1. The PAC 12 is not adding religious institutions. Houston would be added before TCU or BU. 2. ACC isn't going anywhere, and their grant of rights goes to 2035, so nobody is leaving that conference until my kids are out of...

Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC?

The Big 12 could do that, but then the media rights would be worth 1/4 what they are now.

Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC?

Last thought: Sometimes I think about a time when I was a student, I don't know it had to be 17 or 18 years ago. There was a particularly exciting game at Hilton, and to be honest I don't even remember what happened who what game it was. But as I was walking out of the stadium on a super cold...

Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC?

As to what will happen for ISU, I think people are completely jumping the gun on the Big 10 or PAC 12 adding teams. What is the incentive? People seem to be assuming that KU would go to the Big 10 as they are an AAU member and they have great basketball. But that is flat out the worst football...
