2017 NCAA National Championship

You've been a huge Penn State hater as long as I can remember.

Don't think you are catching Pablo's irony here...you are trying to pass yourself off as an Iowa fan while posting in a fit of red-faced rage defending PSU. I thought Ed was great and I have no problem saying it. I also think Cael is a great coach, PSU has some awesome wrestlers, etc...That said, most of my guys on here know it too. You have a couple of posts to your name, all of which are in defense of PSU. So "Iowa" fan...there hasn't been any news lately that would make you want to proudly post about the Hawks? Top recruits, a guy making the Olympic team, guys winning juniors? Nope...Ed Ruth brought you out.

Just seems like someone went and got a new name after getting bounced on here for incessant PSU propaganda.

yea went right over his head, even had to post that he knew pablow wasn't a penn st fan something even capt obvious wouldn't feel the need to point out.

From the guy who is over on our board, claiming Cenzo won't be able to hold 165, hahahaha.

Cmon man, see the irony.

AZ used Cenzo missing weight twice as support and didn't claim no way, no how, could Cenzo ever make 165 as if it were some fact not to be disputed. He presented it as an opinion and didn't defend that opinion as fact bringing it into every thread on the board. You brought Gavin to 133 into a thread about Hall getting OW over on BWI. You are trying too hard to protect your stance it is ridiculous.

This. A wrestler just doesn't miss weight twice. He might look like shit because of bad cutting habits or some type of fluke crap like what happened to McKenna at Worlds. Anyways, it was originally thought that Cenzo was going to be a 149 and look where he is in one short year.

So you have Marenelli finishing at 5 without wrestling a college match and Joseph finishing 8 with a full year under his belt in a college room? I know some of you guys are high on Marenelli, but I'm not seeing top five as a true freshman at 165. I think a true freshman finishing top 8 at 165 is going to be tough let alone placing higher than Joseph considering how he wrestled this weekend albeit freestyle.

No, I'll defend great wrestlers as I would Ed Banach, Lou Banach, Tom and Terry, Brent Metcalf, Matt McDonough or even Tony Ramos at this point.

I'd defend you, if you were a great wrestler.

I actually agree. Let's revisit this in 2 years, if I'm wrong, drinks on me at Rec Hall for those who haven't attacked me.

All 3 of you, haha.

Joseph is real tough just like Zain, Nolf, Nickal and they should be all number one ranked wrestlers.
But both Nolf and Nickal lost in the finals last year so they are not unbeatable. But dam tough.

It is possible for someone to get ' smoked' in a match AND be at three time National Champ. The two are not mutually exclusive.

I'm a teetotaler. So do I have free reins on an attack? My intentions are good (plan on attacking you at some point). haha;)

mutually exclusive? No. Have I ever seen a 3 or 4 time champ get smoked? No. Those guys are superior athletes with superior technical skills.

I have. Pat Smith smoked Joe Williams and Ed Ruth and Nate Carr would be the others.

Unless some don't understand what "smoked" means in a sporting sense, this is definitely the correct answer. There are others of their ilk out there with multiple titles as well I'm certain. Ed Ruth got "smoked". So did Nate Carr versus Jimmy Zalesky.

I guess denial isn't just a river in Egypt............................;)

Okay. I was thinking more along the lines of prime vs prime. A senior Smith against a true frosh Williams isn't quite what I was going for, but you are right.

I didn't fail to add anything "I'm a Hawk fan" (you're a Hawk fan all right LMAO!). You should have started with "I'm a butthurt Penn State Dbag", because it's painfully obvious that's exactly what you are.

I am well aware of what happened in both matches, but the topic was the 1st match. Maybe you understand that, likely you don't.

You found out the "facts" from the Penn State Coaches? LOL! Why didn't you just watch the match like the rest of the world did? The "facts" were as clear as they could possibly be. The tape don't lie. (maybe you want to claim the NCAA altered it - LOL!)

Go to youtube and watch it again. The facts are the same today as they were then.

Ruth got his legs turked, twisted and tied up in every way imaginable. Spent the entire 2nd period getting rode like a rented mule and trying to stay off his back, which he couldn't do. He was down 9-2 going into the 3rd period and he'd had enough. Ruth had choice the 2nd period and chose down. Guess what Amuchastegui was going to pick for his choice in the 3rd period? (Hint - it rhymes with Stop).

He had his knee lock up? Ummmm OK. I don't doubt for a second that Ed Ruth's legs were aching, and his ligaments and everything else had been stretched and torqued, same as thousands of others before him, and much like Ed did to many before and after this match.

He had his ass torqued and tied in a knot in every way imaginable in that match until he got "released" from the slaughter! Those are your facts "Iowa fan".
Penn State hater here: I'm no expert, but that was an injured wrestler there going through the motions.

It's, MARINELLI. Not, MARENELLI. Your parents buy you books and send you to school and look at what they get in return. A kid that can't spell.:p

And Ed Ruth rag dolled every Iowa wrestler he ever wrestled. Are you also saying that every Iowa wrestler is poo under Ed's wrestling shoe too?

I don't even remotely know what you're trying to prove other than you're a jaded super fan without a purpose, without logic or why in God's great earth... he made you a retard. Ed Ruth lost 2 matches out of 104 collegiate matches and you want to go off on a freak tangent about one of his two losses and go off on a nut laced diatribe about an injuried wrestler in one of those losses. Ruth won as many individual National Championships as Iowa did collectively as a team from 2011 to 2014. You do know that... 0 for 23?

And he housed every Iowa wrestler he wrestled. I think his "worst" win was a 10-3 decision to Ethen Lofthouse. And you're trying to prove what?

Dude... you have a more than 23 screws loose and your logic is now 0-24.

I know you're this kind of nut job. You might want to dissect Matt McDonough's senior year and walk us through how Matt's injury didn't affect his performance in not AA'ing when he should have been a 4 time finalist and possibly a three time Champ without the shoulder and neck injury.

What a goofy, tool bag you are. Railing on a 3 time champ who lost 2 matches in his entire collegiate career. Your drivel is caustic for humanity. I was there and talked to Penn State's highest people... nut job, yet you went ahead with your own take of what happened to an injured 3 time national champ who never backed down from an Iowa wrestler... he just beat them like you're describing Nick Amuchastegui did to Ruth. Yet Ruth... in a subsequent National Title match, both guys being healthy, on National TV with Nick Amuchastegui being able to prove that win over Ruth wasn't a fluke... gets pounded on for 7 mins, almost gets teched and Amuchestegui was ridden for 3:39 seconds in the match... proving the 1st match... Ruth was injured. He rode Amuchestegui like a wee pony. Like you are in real life. Can't see above the light that isn't on.

Would you say the same again about Matt McDonough? I don't think so... NutJob.

Here's the rub with your comparison between Ruth and McD: Ruth came back and beat Manual, Bennett, Heinrich and Lewnes to win 3rd. McD lost and dropped down to lose to Sprenkle and was out for a whole year after. Ruth was a great wrestler but it was apples and oranges...one suffering with a situational injury and one with a sustained one. BTW, Ed's record was 140-3.

Don't be throwing facts like actual records into this!! Penn State fans hanging out on an Iowa board will have none of that!! It's okay to admit that a guy gets beat. Winning a later match doesn't erase a defeat. He was great, we get it. But he suffered a case of assbeatitis, it happened. It has happened to others, it will happen again. Reality, the 'injury' was so severe he won several more matches after his 'recovery'. If he had med ff'd it would hold up a little better.

You know and I know that McDonough's shoulder was shot. He could barely lift his arm, but he did what three time finalists do. He went out and he sucked it up and gave everything he had left in his body. I know Ed Ruth's knee locked up. I talked directly to a Penn State coach and I'll leave it at that. Should we be so inhumane to pick out injuried wrestlers and look at at moment in their lives when they couldn't perform to their maximum ability. That's what 0 for 23 is doing.

I'd like to see him on the mat with Ed Ruth, let alone Matt McDonough. I'd imagine MM cleans the mat with him.

I am guessing that MM might not at this time as he is recovering at this time. Should you be so inhumane that you are looking at a poster like 23 who may not be at his best and point out that he can't post at his best ability. See it just sounds a little silly.

He got beat, whether his knee locked or not he got beat badly, did it look like he gave up? Yes, did his knee quickly recover from the devastating 'knee lock'? Surprisingly such a brutal injury healed quickly and he was able to wrestle back.

And please don't judge my posts I am not at my best today so therefore my performance should be ignored as if it never happened. Erase that Patriot loss in the Super Bowl to ruin their perfect season, they weren't at their best that day, people were injured, there was a plague of locusts.....

I thought it was chinch bugs? Maybe that was back in 36.

I hate to even say it but Joseph looked really freaking tough.

I think we all knew Joseph was a stud, as is it is obvious so is Kemmerer..its just that they will not both be studs at the same weight anymore.(disappointing...wanted to see 4 years of them going at it) as a PSU fan thank god the report is that Nolf should have no problem staying at 157 as he is not growing...hope he starts drinking lots of coffee, I know that it is now just a myth that it stunts your growth but hey it can't hurt...lol

EDIT- And WWD, yes I am worried about what you guys are doing because Lee, Teasdale, Mejia, Marinelli, and Kemmerer are all STUDS, Potential Multiple Championship type studs

I enjoyed watching Kemerer and Joseph go at it while in High School. In my opinion they were about as close as you can get to dead even. Even before both of them committed, and they were both rumored to have interest in Iowa I would've been excited to land either one of them. As it is now, Hawk fans are ecstatic to have Kemerer aboard, as I'm sure PSU fans feel the same about Joseph.

I feel like Iowa recruiting is finally catching up to the bar that PSU has set so high for the past few years, and in return I expect to see some real wars for the team title the next 4-6 years. With of course the ever looming threats of OSU and tOSU as well.

I am a relative newcomer to the college wrestling scene being as young as I am, but the college wrestling scene in terms of title contending teams seems to be at an all time peak for excitement and great rivalries with increasing parity in the sport.

As for Marinelli ahead of Joseph, I just think Marinelli is rock solid and you know what they say about Freshmen and March... "They're are no Freshmen in March." 165 looks like the deepest weight in the field and as talented as I think Joseph is, the guys in front of him are pretty darn impressive as well. Imar, Jordan, Lewis, and Massa are all guys who different people will pick to win the entire weight. The bigger eye opener might be not having White as a AA at all. This is a guy who is supremely talented. Who beat Joseph not long ago.

As for Cortez being too high. I happen to think highly of Cortez. It is really that simple. I have a pretty good eye for talent and while I have certainly been wrong in the past I see Cortez as a guy who is going to be an impact wrestler right out of the gate.

I'm not reading what these PSU folks are writing, but you can tell they're nervous about what's brewing in Iowa City. It has them on edge. I love it! Go Hawks!
I AM nervous about what's brewing in Iowa City, but it isn't Spencer Lee: You already have Gilman, and you will be replacing a #1 ranked 20 point plus kid, with ANOTHER #1 ranked 20 point plus kid.

What poses the problem for me, is Kemerer and Marinelli: BOTH are upgrades and BOTH make Iowa better and help them rise up to challenge us in the coming years. Also, a healthy Stoll is going to be tough.

One thing looks to be sure: PSU and Iowa are headed for some great dual meets and some great tournament competition. That's great for PSU and Iowa fans and that's great for wrestling! I hope they can find a way again to wrestle non-conference duals in the off years.

The problem you have, is that you aren't about supporting Iowa, as much as you are about hating Penn State.
Says the guy that bashes Iowa first and only then talks about your love of Penn State. (you and amalone).

The post you made before this one is the only time I have ever seen you say anything remotely positive about Iowa, and it was actually half a slam before you got to your point.
