Not liking the competition here. Fran does not get this type of guy so I hope he finally gets the monkey off his back with him.

Fran has been on him for a long time. Also having his former high school teammate in Josh Ogundele at Iowa should help. Not liking the competition here. Fran does not get this type of guy so I hope he finally gets the monkey off his back with him.

You’re right. They both lived in Worcester. I had it mixed up.What am I missing? Ogundele went to Worcester (MA) and Bowen goes to Brewster (NH).
Bowen did play for Worcester, check out his main rivals pic. What am I missing? Ogundele went to Worcester (MA) and Bowen goes to Brewster (NH).
Yes but RU and Maryland are right in the back yard.Fran has been on him for a long time. Also having his former high school teammate in Josh Ogundele at Iowa should help.
He gets talented players under the radar because he works so hard at it. And he does it the right way by recruiting and developing HS kids, not by free agency like the lazy coaches who have helped to change the NCAA into a farm system. This article does help dispel the myth that Fran is lazy in recruiting. He does not get many of the players he goes after, but it is not for a lack of trying.
It is not lazy to use the portal, it is a tool that should not be ignored anymore. Us hawkeye fans need to get this through our heads. He gets talented players under the radar because he works so hard at it. They mostly recruit HS players. Their team's best players are generally those players.Yeah, when I think of guys like Chris Beard, Dana Altman, Bill Self and Mark Few I think of lazy coaches.

Probably Fred Hoiberg. He’s the only one I can think of at least. So who are the lazy coaches you are referring to?

I don’t disagree. I really don’t know what he’s talking about lol.His teams were built around HS players too.

That he still had to recruit. I guess I'm not understanding how that's lazy. You gotta recruit the player either way.He had a lot more free agency players in there.
Recruiting players then babying them through off-campus crap was his specialty. Just look at the turnover and crap that occurred during his time at IA State. Never a dull moment. That he still had to recruit. I guess I'm not understanding how that's lazy. You gotta recruit the player either way.

so? he will start winning at nebraska too. Just not sure how soon that will be.Past tense
Lol. He won’t be winning at Nebby. That basketball team is literally a soap opera.so? he will start winning at nebraska too. Just not sure how soon that will be.
If that is all that is important to you, you can have it.but he won
Yet he can bring in decent transfers and has a 5* coming in this year.Lol. He won’t be winning at Nebby. That basketball team is literally a soap opera.
Winning is important. as is not being complacent and creating less competition for your son to play. I am sorry but when we lose good guys and do not bring in anyone new at that position I am a little bit perplexed by that. It was the nail in the coffin. Now, if he brings in some of the recent offers and Bowen then I am good. But I am not confident we can get that.If that is all that is important to you, you can have it.
You don't know that. A few unsubstantiated rumors is not proof IMHO.Winning is important. as is not being complacent and creating less competition for your son to play. Very nice! A big lefty.
You are correct, but the competition has been weak at best at that position for 3-4 years. You don't know that. A few unsubstantiated rumors is not proof IMHO.

Patrick Wessler is a 7'0" foot, 250 lb Center.
As mentioned above, Iowa has now offered.
Here is video from March 15, 2021.
As you can see, and as @BBHawk mentioned, he's a lefty. Nice rim protector and he dunks!
Watch:
Rivals shows him with 8 offers, including:
Iowa
Creighton
Wake Forest
Mississippi
South Florida
Elon
New Orleans
Charlotte
Hopefully we can get him and others on official visits starting next monthWessler looks like the real deal.
I've been a Hawkeye BBall fan since Lute was here, but if I really thought Fran was making sure there was less competition for his sons I'd follow someone else.Winning is important. as is not being complacent and creating less competition for your son to play.
