2022 Recruiting (1 Scholarship Left): Jaxon Kohler & Josh Dix VISITED Sep3, Tyler Nickel Sep17. Aidan Shaw VISITED Jun23. Kyle Filipowski to Duke

I've been a Hawkeye BBall fan since Lute was here, but if I really thought Fran was making sure there was less competition for his sons I'd follow someone else.

Why did Fran offer and sign the Murray twins, Sandfort, and put out several 4* PG and SF 2022 offers, if he's trying to give the starting spots to his sons? The team is full of players similar to P-Mac in size, and we already have 2 PG's with more offers in 2022 when Connor will be a Sr.
It's CMac who they are bitching about. When he's gone, they'll pick another whipping boy. I am curious about who's next.
😉

You know the problem with your thinking...it’s based on logic and reasoning and rooted in life experience. That doesn’t validate emotion based responses that are full of frustration and biases.

Like I said. I will change my handle to Fran worshiper if he lands Nickel and one of those PGs. Right now it appears that is not gonna happen. We are losing ground in both of these recruitments. I hope I am wrong because Bowen would be a great get.

Fran is always in there early; closing the deal is the issue.

I hope it makes a difference with Dasonte, who Fran offered early. Dasonte was impressed enough where he has already unofficially visited (and attended a football game).

It's a shame Fran struggles so much with recruiting because he's a fantastic offensive coach. I think that's the biggest challenge for any coach at a non-blueblood school. I would love to see what Fran could do with talent like Illinois had last year.

If only Fran could hire an assistant who is good at sealing the deal with top recruits.

Fran not valuing defense is far more of a program weakness than recruiting is. There was more than enough talent on last season's team to make a final four run, but it wasn't utilized correctly. That team wasn't close to maxing out

The orig post has been updated.

(1) Just a reminder: When this thread has been updated, the title becomes BOLD. When you click on the thread title, it takes you to where you left off in the thread. But apparently that is somehow a nightmare for @BBHawk ;)

(2) I always keep the thread title & orig post current

(3) When a new offer arrives, I (or someone else) has been posting it here; I then update the orig post.

(4) The orig post will always have the current 2022-2023 roster. We have 3 openings to plug in, of course.

(5) Again from the orig post, you can see that Iowa has now extended 27 offers so far for the Class of 2022. 4 have committed elsewhere. Again, as you can see in the orig post, those who Iowa offered but committed elsewhere are listed (including dates and schools they committed to).

(6) In the orig post, the most recent offers are listed at the top. As you can see in the orig post, Iowa has offered 6 prospects since April 21.

And don't forget about Steven Kramer (no offer yet), who Iowa is watching closely.

Those offered since April 21:

Patrick Wessler (Offered May 11, 2021)
C, 7'0", 250, Matthews, NC

Reed Bailey (Offered May 8, 2021)
PF, 6'10", 205, Wolfeboro, NH

Alex Karaban (Offered May 4, 2021)
SF, 6'8", 210, New Hampton, NH

Kam Craft (Offered April 28, 2021)
SG, 6'6", 185, Buffalo Grove, IL

Seth Trimble (Offered April 26, 2021)
PG, 6'3", 185, Menomonee Falls, WI

Josh Dix (Offered April 21, 2021)
SG, 6'5", 185, Council Bluffs, IA

(7) And finally, @BBHawk complained in another thread that this thread was a mess of current and long gone offers, with a boatload of infighting and whatnot ....

Well, the orig post is not a mess. It's up to date, and there are many prospects Iowa has offered who are still undecided.

And if you have been following this thread, you will know that @BBHawk was part of the problem he's complaining about because he was part of the infighting, going back & forth with others about Debbie and the Clowns. This thread is about Class of 2022 Iowa recruiting only. If he and others want to talk about Little Debbie and the Clowns, start a new thread.

Thank you.

For those who have the time to read every post and keep up with long threads, this works well. But if you have not kept up with the thread, finding the new information can be a bit of a chore. You have to skip to the end of the thread, and then work backward, looking at the dates of posts, and often scrolling past garbage, to find the new information.

First-world problem, I know. I'm just saying the experience for casual visitors to the board is different from those who visit multiple times a day and keep up with every thread. And honestly, if you don't keep up with long threads, it's easier to get the information in a new post.

You do not have to skip to the end of the thread and go backwards. When you click on the thread link, it takes you to where you left off in the thread. And if its your first time looking at the thread, the orig post has all the info right there. And just skip past irrelevant posts, which you will find in every thread.

And, again, everything is summarized right there in the orig post.

* Where the 2022 roster currently sits.
* All 27 offers.
* The 23 who are still undecided, with the most recent offered at the top of the list.

* The 4 who committed elsewhere, including when & where.

My problem is that I usually left off somewhere in the middle of the thread, so I have to skip around to find the new stuff.

I’m only guessing but is it likely we won’t know who’s on board before sometime mid September?

Yeah, Fran is in there early with the offer, everybody else notices, and then suddenly we are in a big recruiting battle where only one school can win. And it seems like Iowa is runner up way too often.

I just dont understand how we cannot attract elite athletes on a consistent basis. I was a freshman at Iowa in 86-87, so i guess it only goes downhill from there.

And if I want to see the offer list, it's easier to just go here.

Unlike my list in the orig post, that list:

* Has been known to be missing prospects who Iowa has offered

* Is in some weird, random order.

* Does not list the most current offered prospects at the top. Instead, you find Patrick Wessler (the most recent offered prospect) randomly in the middle of the list.

* Does not list when the player was offered

* Does not list how many scholarships Iowa has open right at this moment. We have 3, of course.

* Does not remind you of Luc Laketa, the 2021 6'6" wing/forward; on May 13, 2021, it was announced he would be joining the roster as a preferred walk on. He may, one day, be in the scholarship conversation.

* Does not list the current 2022-2023 roster right at this very moment, which helps show where our needs are. Some think, for example, based on the fact that Joe T will be a senior & Ulis will be a junior, Iowa really needs to land a PG in this class.

And the PG's Iowa has offered and when they were offered? Just look at the orig post, where you will see 3 of them:

Seth Trimble (Offered April 26, 2021)
PG, 6'3", 185, Menomonee Falls, WI

Dasonte Bowen (Offered May 10, 2019; IOWA was the FIRST to offer Dasonte)
PG, 6'3", 170, Worcester, MA

Trejuan Holloman (Offered July 2, 2019)
PG, 6'2", St. Paul, MN

College coaches can watch Patrick Wessler (Iowa offered May 11, 2021) and @CCEliteBBall July 8-11 at the #PhenomSummerHavoc at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center (Rock Hill, SC).

The following is a FREE STORY.

As you will read, it looks like Wessler is about to blow up. Note that Iona is starting to show interest!

As you will also see in the story, here are the numbers Patrick has posted recently with CC Elite:

Phenom Hoops Grassroots TOC (vs. Team Teague, CP3, Team Push, and Big Shots Winston Salem): 15.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, and 3.0 assists per game

Last weekend (May 8-9) in Big Shots (vs. Team Loaded, Team Wall, Big Shots Premier, and TMP Elite): 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, and 3.0 assists per game

The FREE Story:

Looks like a hard worker with a pretty decent outside shot, good hands and frame that could carry several more pounds. Would have liked to see more of his footwork around the basket, but I guess the low post big man is almost a thing of the past with Luka being the one of the last great examples.
Seems as though so far, the big boys in Carolina are not very interested in him. That may change.

And Fran, I, for one, appreciate all the work you do to get us information on this board. Those that don't can just not open your posts.

@skydog0784 look at the original post,

Iowa has offered 11 prospects who live on the east coast.

Getting Kyle to officially visit is a good sign in my opinion.

And TrianglePlace is a troll. He starts duplicate threads just to be an ass

One nice thing is Fran has been in the Kyle hunt for a while now.

He will visit exactly one year from when Fran offered.

From the original post:

Kyle Filipowski (Offered June 18, 2020)
PF, 6'9", 215, Wilbraham, MA
