2022 Recruiting (1 Scholarship Left): Jaxon Kohler & Josh Dix VISITED Sep3, Tyler Nickel Sep17. Aidan Shaw VISITED Jun23. Kyle Filipowski to Duke

My wild guess is that Trimble ends up at Michigan...from the reading that I have done. That said, I think Desonte Bowen is a very similar player with maybe more skill/scoring. Maybe a hair less athletic....maybe.

Remember, schools like Michigan already have many 4 and 5 star athletes to complete against for playing time. They will continue to recruit over you. The opportunity for earlier major minutes would be better at Iowa. If a player excells at Iowa he will become a cult hero. At bluebloods they will just be another good player. If you have NBA talent they will find you no matter where you play. You can be a big fish in a small pond or just another fish in the ocean.

No idea he had a twin brother that has high major offers. I wonder if that is going to be some kind of package deal.
Yep....makes me wonder why Iowa didn't recruit both? Not saying that is some big mistake or something, it could be as simple as they had things going with Mulvey and didn't want to offer another post maybe.

Lets not pretend our PG play has been stellar. I love our players, but it is obvious PG has been a weak link for us.
Let's not pretend you are trying to move the goalpost. Your claim was that Fran wasn't closing pg's from out of state not whether pg has been a problem for the Hawks.

New recruiting strategy: Always recruit pairs of brothers, ideally twins.

We could have the Murrays, the Sandforts, and the Filipowskis all on one team. Too bad the timing's not there to line them up with a pair of McCafferys and/or Wieskamps.

Probably not, as Illinois is on him also.
Last year we saw how many PG’s Illinois had. Plus combo guards. With the size, skill and athleticism of Bowen and Trimble it would make one hell of a backcourt to get them both. Probably not going to happen but it would be as athletic of a backcourt as we have seen in a long time. Both of them and Filipowski would be great . One of them with Nickel and Filipowski would be awesome as well.

Just read a day or 2 ago Bowen has been on campus already, and plans to make another trip. I think we have a very good shot at landing him. He’s very complimentary of Iowa and Fran, and I believe like a lot of other high level players, Fran gave him his first high major offer. Maybe that will actually pay off for once

That was covered and discussed in this thread

Sorry fran, did i step on your toes posting that? i knew you’d be mad when i beat you to the punch! 🤣

You beat me to the punch? Seriously?

You wrote, and I quote, that "Just read a day or 2 ago Bowen has been on campus alread.y"

You just read that? That is OLD, OLD news because we have been discussing that unofficial Dasonte Bowen visit and more in this thread since June 16, 2020.

And what we have been discussing?

* On May 10, 2019, Iowa was the FIRST to offer Dasonte

* Dasonte UNofficially visited Iowa in late October, 2019

* His highlight videos

* On June 1, kids can start taking official visits

And @Longgrover1 was wondering when some of these prospects would be visiting. Again, that has been discussed A LOT in this thread. Finally, official visits can start up again on June 1st. Hopefully we start seeing some of these top prospects in Iowa City. The Zoom calls and virtual visits do not do Iowa City, the campus and the facilities justice.

What you knew was old, old news that you just found out about 2 days ago.

Again, I was just shocked that you, @Longgrover1 and @CalmHawk did not know that:

* Dasonte had already visited Iowa unofficially in 2019

* He (and all the other prospects Iowa is after) can begin talking official visits on June 1. Now, it's just a matter of setting them up. It's a bit tricky, obviously, because these prospects will want to visit their other top choice schools.

So, when will these prospects start appearing on the Iowa City campus? Sometime in June or later. So, be patient and stay tuned.

Relax, we are all on the same side.

FREE STORY.

As you will read, Sherman Dillard was one of the first coaches to see him play at a young age.

And don't forget the Tyler Cook connection. Tyler also attended Chaminade High School (St Louis).
