Chad Leistikow & Matt Bain discussed basketball recruiting tonight on the HawkCentral KXNO radio program.

They talked about the following 5 prospects at the 25:30 mark.

(1) Dasonte Bowen (Offered May 10, 2019; IOWA was the FIRST to offer Dasonte; he UNOFFICIALLY visited on Oct 20, 2019)

PG, 6'3", 170, Worcester, MA

Don't forget Dasonte played a year with Josh Ogundele

Official visits can start June 1 & Matt said it is not a coincidence Dasonte will be making the 1st official visit from June 3-June 5.

Dasonte is HIGH on Iowa's priority list.

(2) Kyle Filipowski (Offered June 18, 2020)
PF, 6'9", 215, Wilbraham, MA

Officially Visits June 17-June 19

(3) Richard Isaacs (Offered June 15, 2020)
PG, 6'2", 180, Mt Pleasant, UT

Reportedly will visit in June.

(4) Josh Dix (Offered April 21, 2021)
SG, 6'5", 185, Council Bluffs, IA

He plans to take unofficials to Purdue, Drake & Iowa in June.

There will be 3 LIVE evaluation periods in July; he will be playing on the Adidas circuit so Josh might have a big July with more Power 5 offers.

(5) Steven Kramer out of Johnston, Iowa

He has no Power 5 offers yet but he had a phenomenal State Tournament.

If he shows this summer that he can shoot from long range, mid major & Power 5 offers might come.

What do you mean by Isaacs reportedly visiting in June?

With the Storr kid, I would love to have him as a Hawk...my wild guess is that he’s not 6’6”....maybe 6’ 4” or 5”....

Thanks Fran.

I would be surprised if we don't land Dasonte Bowen. The question is the timing. He paid his own way to Iowa City in October 2019 & even took in an Iowa football game. He's coming back to Iowa City, of course, for a second time, June 3-5. I think his old HS teammate, Josh Ogundele, will help seal the deal.

Another interesting thing is that Fran has a good relationship wit Richard Isaacs, the PG out of Utah. Isaacs, of course, plans to visit in June. Isaacs & Storr are AAU teammates, of course.

IF Point Guard Dasonte Bowen commits, what does that mean for Point Guard Richard Isaacs (I know, he likely looks elsewhere)? To his AAU teammate, Shooting Guard AJ Storr (I kinda think he re-commits to the Illini)?

It will be interesting to watch and see how the 3 remaining scholarships get taken.

Bowen on campus is big. Bowen, Wessler, and Dix would be a good coop for next year.

That would be a nice PG / C / SG combo. ;)

As you can see below, it looks like Wessler will officially visit this fall. Right now, the competition for him is not too crazy. His Power 6 offers, as reported by Rivals: Iowa, Wake Forest, Ole Miss, Creighton.

Check out these comments & Highlights from last weekend:

As I have mentioned, Richard Isaacs Jr (far left) and AJ Storr (far right) are AAU teammates.

This PG / SG package deal would be pretty sweet and leave us with 1 scholarship remaining.

One can dream.... ;)

Here are some recent video clips of Kyle Filipowski, who Iowa offered on June 18, 2020.

Note from the last tweet in this post that:

* Kyle is now #48 in the Rivals Top 150 (up 69 spots), which of course, gets blue blood attention.

* Seth Trimble, the 6'3" PG out of Menomonee Falls, WI, who Iowa offered April 26, 2021, is #No. 34 in the Rivals Top 150 (up 75 spots).

Kyle is the real deal, as you can see.

Iowa offered Alex Karaban on May 4, 2021.

Alex had a good weekend of play. He played against the #1 and #2 recruits of the 2022 Class and left people impressed.

And, as you can see, he has an OFFICIAL VISIT set up w/ Northwestern.

Iowa offered PG Seth Trimble on April 26, 2021.

His AAU team is Phenom University EYBL.

Michigan and North Carolina (his older brother, J.P. Tokoto, played there) appear to be the front runners; he has official visits lined up with both schools.

Here are some spring highlights that were posted on May 27, 2021.

Watch:

Class of 2022 Josh Dix & Steven Kramer along with Payton Sandfort's brother, Pryce (Class of 2023), will be at this event in St Paul next month. DI coaches will be there to evaluate.

As I posted above, Iowa offered SG Josh Dix on April 21, 2021. He plans to take unofficial visits to Purdue, Drake & Iowa in June. There will be 3 LIVE evaluation periods in July; Josh will be playing on the Adidas circuit so Josh might have a big July with more Power 5 offers.

Steven Kramer out of Johnston, Iowa has no Power 5 offers. Heck, Rivals doesn't even have him set up with a profile yet! Nevertheless, he had a phenomenal State Tournament. If he shows this summer that he can shoot from long range, mid major & Power 5 offers might come.

Iowa offered 7'0" Center Patrick Wessler on May 11, 2021. He is out of Matthews, NC, of course.

Looks like we might be hosting him during a football weekend this fall.

As you can see above, on May 26 (post #605 above)
I wrote that it looked like we might be hosting Patrick Wessler during a football weekend this fall.

Well, based on the story that follows, that appears to indeed be the case.

Iowa offered the 7'0" Center on May 11, 2021. He is out of Matthews, NC, of course.

This is a good story.

As you can see, he was very excited about the Iowa offer & how Iowa used Luka.

Some excerpts:

Right now, Virginia Tech and Providence will be visits during the summer, while Iowa and East Carolina will come in the fall.

Phenom: You also mentioned that Iowa and East Carolina are two other visits you may want to take?

Wessler: They want me to come in the fall to get the full effect.

Recruitment-wise, wanted to ask you about your latest. Iowa was the latest as well as Coastal Carolina. Iowa was a big one; what was it like to get that offer?

Wessler: It was very, very interesting to get that offer, I really like Iowa. Coach McCaffery talked to me and it is a big offer because they just had Garza there as their big. I’ve been able to watch him and see how they used him; I’m really excited about it.

Phenom: You have a few visits coming up with Virginia Tech and Providence. What made those two programs the first two you want to visit?

Wessler: Virginia Tech was one of my first really big offers and I’ve talked to their staff a lot. I feel like they are genuinely interested in me and I like that.

Wessler has been racking up the offers, now holding ones from Iowa, Coastal Carolina, Providence, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, East Carolina, Creighton, South Florida, Charlotte, Wake Forest, and Elon

@Ronman, from this story it appears that he has really been working on his defense.

And the videos indeed show that.

Some excerpts:

Phenom: How do you think you have elevated your game from last summer to where you are today?

Wessler: I just think my mobility is way better; it has been much, much better.

Phenom: You have been putting in the work this summer and I’m sure with the staff at Combine Academy. What have they been working with you on and your game?

Wessler: Coach Jeff is really big on defense, so there has been a lot of focus on that as well as speed and agility.
