I think he debated all the other guys in his class about who to ask, they all went opposite, and he forgot the essence of the debate and failed to pull the trigger at all.

Well, I’m picking up what he was putting down, finally. I like to eat glue….He didn’t mean 1st or 2nd; he meant going 1-2, as in one win at NCAAs.
Yeah, I really hope Ayala and Franek out perform my predictions. Ayala has to prove it and stay healthy. I think a 100% healthy Ayala is top 5 and a serious title contender. I went 5th for Franek because last year was the outlier. He did take 4th but the previous 3 years he failed to reach the podium. I think Shapiro and Haines make the finals and Robb, Teemer, Franek, Lewan, Andonian and Scott are all about on the same level. Cardenas and Chittum will be right there close to that 2nd tier as well.
Now here are my predictions with the gamblers in the line up.

Brands 5th up at 184 is a big ask. I think being at the right weight is important for his style.
Also something to keep in mind, we've generally seen regression for 6th+ year guys, not just at Iowa, but across the country. We shouldn't be shocked if guys like Brands and Cass have down years, especially with the suspension turmoil that's been over their heads for months. Assad's only a 5th year, but he's been through the ringer with injuries his whole career, so I'd add him too.
Nelson beat Plott last year for 5th. Plott is currently ranked 4th at 184. IMO 184 will be the weakest weight in the country with Brooks and Hidlay up at 197. Nelson has wrestled this weight before. He's not your typical 6th year senior who has been wrestling since they were 5. Nelson started wrestling late, I want to say around 6th grade, I could be wrong. Look at the current rankings at 184 and tell me you don't think Brands can make the podium.
Not out of the realm of possibility. 184 has really cleared out. Alternatively, the last match he wrestled at 184, he got majored by Gavin Kane, who is ranked 6th.
If Nelson goes 184, he probably starts the season ranked 4th, but when you look down the list of guys below you see a lot of guys who I would probably favor head to head, but don't have the NCAA results because 184 has been really deep for a long time.
Correction here - in 2021, Nelson lost to Gavin's brother, Devin, who has since graduated.
The other factor is his style. As a bruiser and positional wrestler, it's extra tough to string together a whole tournament against bigger opponents.
I think Franek takes 3rd. I don't see him beating Shapiro or Haines (and Haines could go up) - but everyone else?

I think Kerk is more of an issue for Cass.
Regular season is going to be huge for Kerk, Hendricks and Cass. Whoever gets the one seed gets to sit while the two others battle it out in the semi.

Seems to me Lucas is going to have a say in all this. Maybe he is training with Paris , maybe he grows and strengthens a bit . Should be interesting .
I don’t see gable returning but I have no knowledge just seems risky to me. If he does come back I will root mightily for anyone to beat him Including Cass. He isn’t invincible.
And I don’t know maybe it’s just me but Wyatt just looks like a beast . When Kerk took him down it reminded me of Cassar toppling Gable.

Eh. I don't think he was insulting. But the dumb dumb comment has to do with Kerk's oft in-match decision making. He just makes some weird mental mistakes for a guy who's wrestled as long as he has and is as good as he is.

Him gassing has a lot to do with his decision making. He'll over shoot and overtry in some really weird positions.
What's the hardship argument for Gomez to be approved to transfer a 2nd time? The NCAA is denying 2nd transfers left and right these days.
