26 UI student-athletes are being investigated for online gambling, incl in Wrestling, Men’s Basketball, Football, Baseball, Men’s track & field

Isu loses 149lber and we lose some studs for sure. IF they don’t get to wrestle I would say Gabe goes 174(might be the best option regardless) Swaff at 184, Glazier at 197 and Ferrari at hwt after the first semester. Not a ton of points there you might say but all we had before this was Nelson and Cass. I truly believe Gabe is special guys at 174 he will hang with anybody and win a few as well. 84 & 97 will hurt a bit but hwt should be a wash with Ferrari. Honestly should score similar if not better than last years pts. Probably score more at 165, 141 should be a little more, 149 will be a bit more as well. 157 will be a big jump as well. 125 love Ayala but there will be a drop off here. But should still AA. You are going to laugh at me but I truly believe we will score more points this year with the right lineup of new and old guys.

I think Ayala will score as many or close to as many as Lee did last year. No wherever what he did the previous years, but close or better than Lee did last year.

DI approves modifications to wagering-related reinstatement guidelines

Changes apply to cases in which sudent-athletes placed bets on other teams at their schools
________________________________________________________________

The Division I Council Coordination Committee on Wednesday adjusted the guidelines for student-athlete reinstatement cases in which student-athletes wager on other teams at their own schools. An adjustment to reinstatement guidelines was requested by the Conference Commissioners Association in early October and was supported in concept by the Division I Council at its Oct. 4 meeting.

Effective immediately, reinstatement guidelines for student-athletes who wager on teams at their school — excluding their own team — will start at requiring one season of ineligibility and a loss of one year of eligibility. Student-athletes will also be required to participate in sports wagering rules and prevention education as a condition of reinstatement. Previous guidelines, as approved in June, prescribed permanent ineligibility for those cases. The adjusted guidelines may be applied to cases in which student-athletes are currently serving suspensions related to wagering on a different team at their own school that were reported on or after May 2, 2023.

"To be clear, Division I members do not encourage student-athletes to engage in sports wagering at any level, and the actions today to modify reinstatement conditions should not be interpreted as support for wagering behaviors," said Jon Steinbrecher, chair of the Council Coordination Committee and commissioner of the Mid-American Conference. "NCAA members continue to prioritize integrity of competition and felt that reinstatement conditions for violations of wagering rules should reflect that focus and, when possible, also accommodate opportunities for preventative education."

The adjustment to reinstatement guidelines is the first step in membership action to review NCAA rules around sports wagering more broadly. Under current NCAA rules, it remains impermissible for student-athletes, coaches and athletics administrators to engage in sports wagering in any sport sponsored by the NCAA, including collegiate and professional sports.

"The council agreed with Division I commissioners that the reinstatement conditions for wagering violations in limited circumstances should be adjusted," Steinbrecher said. "Member schools need to fully examine NCAA wagering legislation overall — particularly in light of changes in recent years to federal and state laws — but the council agreed that additional changes should not be made until potential changes to rules are contemplated."

well that means kennedy will be 174 once his suspension is up at some point this year.

Anyone have a summary of remaining eligibility after suspensions are served for Iowa's wrestlers? I can't keep up with eligibility since the COVID year through everything off. I know Nelson has said he has an injury year to use so he should be back next year. Cass is done right? Assad done? Kennedy will have 1 year left. Is that accurate?

My guess is we won’t get a definitive answer but whoever is not out there against Oregon State is done

Remember the message the ncaa sends. Harbor a pedo and child rapist and get s slap on the wrist. Make a few bets on sports that you don't control the outcome and you're done. It's clear who controls the ncaa and it's time for the other teams to leave it.

So they lose a year if bet on there own team ie: Iowa wrestler bets on Iowa wrestling? And not lose a year if bet on other teams ie Iowa wrestler bets on Iowa womens basketball?

Looks to be bad news, as Kirk Ferentz feared, for Noah Shannon.

Iowa wrestlers, too.

Per NCAA guidelines released moments ago,

No, I think it's the eligibility death penalty if they bet on their own team, but if they bet on another team at their school it is one year gone.

Imagine if his first match is a Monday nighter against Steveson

Our guy on the inside is saying 197 for AJF.

Maybe I’m delusional but I’m a big Bradley Hill guy. Seems to have a lot of upside and is very good on his feet and very athletic. AJ/Hill scores Iowa more points in KC than Glazier/AJ imo

He's not without talent but he has work to do to even qualify for the NCAA at this point in his career, let alone get on the podium.

No. Bet on your own team and you are 100% done. Bet on another team at your school and lose a year. Which is why Cass and Shannon are done.

Well still getting nothing at 84, nothing from 97 unless AJ saves the day, hwt really takes a hit. 74 maybe if Kennedy is back still not sure. Basically upper weights look bleak come march. Awesome
