Auburn certainly didn't deserve a game close to home, but they are NOT that good. Otherwise, not a bad draw. Iowa gets matched up against the scummiest coach to be on an Iowa staff that I know about.
Well Auburn is guard oriented (big problem) and likes to shoot a lot of 3’s. If Fran is going to play Patrick a lot of minutes with Connor at the point a lot of minutes like he’s been doing lately it will end poorly. This is a game Ulis needs minutes and we need to go small. But the nepotism runs deep.
So Auburn was a worse seed yet basically gets a home game? How does Auburn deserve that? I’m fine with the draw, the location is what’s fvcked up and no 8 seed should get screwed like that. Iowa fans will not get a ticket on the open market unless you want to pay highly for it.
This is probably the worst seeded tournament I have ever seen. So many questionable seeds.

Huh? Auburn is a little over 100 miles from Birmingham. Auburn will have a huge crowd advantage. Similar if Iow played in Des Moines.
So basically an away game with a ball we can't shoot with against a team of hyper athletic black guys that only lost by 5 to alabama. Yeah we're gonna get smoked.

We have a better record in a far tougher conference, and we have to play a lower seeded team in their home state, thats how we got boned! Not to mention we beat the crap out of Iowa State & they get to plat 20 miles from home.
We beat Auburn because we out rebound them. We lose to Houston because they out rebound us. JMFO
I live here. All ANYONE talks about is how incredible Alabama is in football AND Basketball. You try and bring up Auburn and the conversation goes nowhere. Believe me they may be close as far as distance goes, but the fan support here is non-existent. That's all I'm saying.
Very good positioning and anticipation can make up for not being quite as athletic. But I think perkins, kris, uhlis are pretty fast etc, Filip is very strong and athletic, but we do drop off
Maybe not, but every Auburn fan in the area, and there are a lot of them, can easily drive the two hours to Birmingham. You're crazy if you don't believe the arena will be fill with their fans.
No. The seed was right. Playing a lower seed in a virtual home game for them is not.

In reality, Iowa should probably be seeded a hair lower, but that’s besides the point.

No I think people are trying to figure out why Auburn gets the home game at a 9 seed, Iowa at 8 or 9 is what most expected. Auburn should not be in Alabama and have no problem with Iowa not being Des Moines.

I'm guessing the selection committee can't put every team at the "right" location. Still 2 hrs away, so still not a home game. I'd rather get the preferred opponent than preferred location.
