A Boy and His Dream

great, read the edit and let me know. I’m not going to respond to any of your future BS in this thread.
Bleeder said above that Iowa fans are not that smart. I am basically telling him to look in the mirror. After all, he has been ignorantly bashing Connor all season long, unable to understand what Connor brings to the table and why he plays.

this is absolutely the wrong thread for you to be doing what you’re doing. You should know that.

I like Connor’s ability to qb the team, pass, and defend, while also getting a few rebounds. Just wish his offensive capability were higher or more consistent. He definitely isn’t afraid to be the enforcer on the team. He’s the alter ego of Patrick if you think about it.

A teammate I was riding with to a 15u basketball tourney said, “my dream is to play short stop for the NY Yankees.” As 15 year olds, we laugh because he was our “designated 3pt shooter” off the bench for Kazoo Blues AAU (Kalamazoo, MI). Fast forward to spring 1992. That same teammate was drafted #9 to who else, the NY Yankees. My friend went to U of Michigan in the Fall of 1992, but his DREAM was to play in the MLB and it was right there in front of him. My friend and AAU teammate, Derek Jeter, wanted to fulfill his dream and he left the University of Michigan to do so. He turned out pretty well. I am not saying that Keegan will be a HOF player like my guy, but if he can live his dream, he gets to make that decision.
Love this story Kenyon!!!! And, BOTH your boys are going to be INCREDIBLE Pro Players. It has been such a joy to watch them grow! As another poster said, Keegan already is an ALL TIME GREAT...and Kris is right behind him!!!

I can't imagine any reasonable Hawk fan getting upset if Keegan declares for the draft. It's a life-changing opportunity that he's worked very hard for. He's been nothing but class in an IOWA uniform.

If he decides to come back (who wouldn't love that!) it would be great. But if the time is right for him to go pro... grab the brass ring young man and give 'em hell.

Maybe Keegan's dream is to be the best Hawkeye in history, get to the Final-4 with his brother, have his number retired and be in the college basketball HOF and this is dad's way of poo-pooing those who say he'd be a fool not to leave.

If that's not the case and he's leaving, Kenyon is trying to justify something that no one is opposed to.

I was just thinking this, what if he is prepping us for Kris’s decision to leave early??? But if Kris does leave, I love it!! Go live out your dreams young men!

Best wishes for Keegan in the draft and in the big time next year. I just wish he would have received the playing time he deserved as the season went along last year!!!

NBA is an exclusive club. I don't think Iowa fans have had many ex-Iowa players to follow in NBA. Reggie Evans had a good career as a rebounding specialist. Weezy, Garza, and Cook are working at establishing themselves

Keegan has a chance to be a point forward with the ball in his hands and have a spectacular NBA career.

This is the internet, people need to stop taking every word typed on here as fact. 20,000 different personalities on here.

Whatever Keegan and Kris decide, best of luck to the both of them. It’s been a pleasure watching them both play Hawkeye basketball.

I don’t get why Kris would even think about it yet. If he goes now, he won’t be a 1st rounder (I’d be shocked if he is anyway, it would be a VERY poor reflection on Fran). If he comes back and raises his averages across the board, he will likely be a 1st rounder next year.

I know he was 50 in the latest nba mock draft. If he goes through the process I could see him improve his position just from workouts and such. Even if Kris doesn’t get drafted there is a route through the G league and teams will be lining up to sign him.

So is Keegan declaring for the MLB Draft? I didn't even know he played.

so he should try the G-league instead of coming back for his junior year and perhaps earning a first round pick? Last year’s season he played about 42 minutes total and this year I think around 600 minutes. I suppose most of his minutes at Iowa were at the wrong position, so you could argue he could get better focus and coaching in the G. However, you can also argue he will get to play the right position at Iowa going forward, which may help him move up to guaranteed 1st round draft next year.

Maybe the OP can shed light on how Kris thinks about the two routes? In fact, I’m pretty sure in a couple of weeks he will do that, which he doesn’t have to do but I appreciate these types of insights.

I’ll just say if Kris were my son, I’d ask him to bet on himself to return, work hard, improve, and EARN FIRST ROUND $$$! I kind of think Keegan would tell him the same?

C'mon, we've got to give some credit to Iowa fans. Only a few of the truly demented would hold it against Keegan for moving on to the pros. And the same number would be disdainful of him if he returned. The vast majority realize the odds and wish him well whatever he decides.

Imagine the euphoric scream across the whole state if Keegan chose to return. Minus I guess the 10% of the state that actually likes isu.

I agree, that is what I was saying on page 1 of this thread. It reads as a veiled attempt laying the foundation for Kris (to the G league I suspect). No insider info though.
