... in the first quarter when Jordan Canzeri was knocked out of the lineup. He's too important to our offense to lose. Our rushing stats suffered as a result. So did our offensive game plan options. And our third down conversions. Jordan has the speed and elusiveness to have been effective against MSU's D-line. His absence allowed the Spartans to put more pressure on CJ. Wadley, Daniels, and Mitchell gave their best efforts, but none of them can do what Canzeri does.

Is there any word on the severity of Canzeri's ankle injury? Will he be available for a New Year's Day bowl game?

I thought when watching the replay that his foot got bent completely sideways to the rest of his leg. I was one of the fans that was hoping for a bunch of Wadley carries last night but it seemed like we never got a chance to really give any of the backs as many carries as I would have liked. Our failure to convert third downs in the second half was a real killer on multiple levels. It also led to our defense getting no rest and getting way too tired at the end of the game.

Though Boone Myers play hurt. Tight ends had to help block and took them out of the passing game.

Our running game is successful because of blocking. It wasn't there last night. If we had run play actions, screens, rollouts we could have had a passing game. If we don't lose a sure score due to a fluke play the whole game is different.

Lot of ifs in a game like that, but none of it matters now.

I saw standing and watching with a normal face. No grimacing. I'm sure he was in pain, but it appears (hopefully) that it's not serious. I'd love to see him go out on a high note scoring a go-ahead td in the Rose Bowl.

Tough to lose a game like this...so close...and yet, the law of averages catches up, thus the few teams, even great ones, that win all their games. Iowa dodged several bullets and on-side kicks...Wisc...Ind...Neb...Minn...Pitt...and lived on the edge as an overachieving yet not dominating team. That Iowa made it to the title game is a credit to the grittiness of the team. Things don't always work out...and it came to bite Iowa in the rear at the worst time. But to lose a tough game...and then go to the Rose Bowl? Well, that is pretty good medication.
